Here are a few guys I think would help the C's that are actually a possibility to get. Even with a new CBA coming in it's obvious who's going to be in our price range.

Free Agents:
Shane Battier: He could back up Paul Pierce and/or Jeff Green and is a good locker room presence. Memphis will look to resign him but Marc Gasol will be a bigger priority for them.

Jamario Moon: Same as Battier. A veteran who could back up the 3 spot. Not as good as Battier defensively, but would be a nice addition.

Kris Humphries: Would definitely fix the depth at PF. NJ is going to push hard to resign him, but if they don't, the Celtics should try to get him.

Greg Oden: Greg Oden could have been one of the most desirable free agents this off season, had he stayed healthy and dominant. He's an RFA this off season and I don't think Portland has the money or patience to resign him. He won't cost much, but the Celtics could attract him.

Alexis Ajinca: he's not a "good" center, but he's 7'2" and could take all those regular season minutes away from Jermaine and let him prepare for the post season.

JR Smith/Arron Afflalo/Wilson Chandler: Either one of these 3 Nugget shooters would definitely help the Celtics scoring droughts.

Deshawn Stevenson: Attitude problems, but a good defender. Although likely to resign with Dallas after winning the championship, but they might let him slip away focusing on Butler and Chandler.

Kwame Brown: Could eat up regular season minutes at center, and actually had a decent year last season.

Joel Przybilla: Another center the Celtics should look at. Might cost more then Kwame/Alexis though.

Eddie House: Not sure he would come back to Boston or reject his player option with MIA after getting to the Finals. But his 3 point shooting would help a lot.

  • Another undersized Celtic...

I like the Kris Humphries & Wilson Chandler ideas a lot. Especially if Kim Kardashian would spend more time in the Garden. I respectfully disagree with all the rest. My dark horse pick up is Reggie Evans. Similar to humphries but led the league in rebounding until he went down with an injury. Tough, strong, solid role player. Has about as much offensive output as Perk did, though...

So funny you say that! I was about to put him on but I didn't watch his game much last year. I knew he was a solid 4 who could definitely help a team.

I also think JR Smith or Wilson Chandler will wind up in Green.

And exactly HOW is that going to happen?

Chandler is a restricted free agent that Denver is going to resign. Its really that simple. Smith is an unrestricted free agent with Sixth man of the Year potential if he grows up and his shot selection gets better, kinda like Jamal Crawford did. He will be looking for more than the MLE, though I don't think he's worth it, he could get it from someone.

The Celtics don't have the assets to trade for both of these guys.

My list of realistic free agents that weren't on the team last year:

Dan Gadzuric

Jeff Foster

Joel Przybilla

Nazr Mohammed

Kurt Thomas

Chuck Hayes

Josh McRoberts

Craig Smith

Grant Hill

Players they could throw MLE money, though I doubt it for most of them:

Andrei Kirilenko

Carl Landry

Samuel Dalambert

Boris Diaw

Mike Dunleavy

Iont think he'll demand the MLE but we'll see i would like to see his athleticism nd shooting coming off our bench tho

JJ Barea.  I think he's another guy that Dallas may let go.  They have Roddy on the bench and they'll focus on signing the other guys first.  Not sure they'll have the money to sign Barea.

do it

Danny needs to go after someone like DeAndre Jordan (R) or Dalembert

I'm confused about how much DeAndre Jordan is going to get next year. On one hand, its Sterling. He wouldn't give a max contract to a prime Michael Jordan. On the other hand, DeAndre and Blake are known friends, and if Jordan leaves, Blake could be close behind.

Alright then take Kaman off their hands; but I am not sure we have what it takes to get Kaman since that would have to be a sign and trade.

Kaman or Jordan would be nice. The only thing is Kaman is going to make 12 mil next season, but after that his contract runs up.

Yep, I think that is a good list of realistic FA options.  I'm most interested in the possibility of Carl Landry (from list 2) and Jeff Foster (from list 1).  I think that would be solid use of MLE and LLE money, assuming, of course, that those players want to join the Cs...
Celtics fan for life.
