Dirk is not a great 2 way player like KG.

Dirk is probably the most efficient shooting and scoring big man ever in the history of the game.

I do believe Dirk is at least in the top 10 of all time PF.

I don't think Dirk is close to the top spot.

Well of course, you get 50 bonus points for having done something yesterday, because today is the most important day ever.

Dirk has averaged 10 boards a game in his playoff career.. one less than KG..and is one of very few players ever to average 25/10 in his playoff career....but all he does is score?

I'd say so.

Dirk won his ring without the help of other All Star's, and against a better Finals opponent.

His playoff shooting display has been among the all time greatest.

HA.

The Mavs are a very deep, balanced team. The Celtics were a three-headed monster (much like the Heat) who were simply too much.

And really? The Heat a better Finals opponent than the Lakers? By what metric? Lakers finished with a better regular season record, similarly coasted through there conference. O yeah, and they went on to win the next to championships.

KG's defensive playoff performances were amongst the all-time greatest.

Not taking anything away from Dirk, but he's not anywhere near the complete player KG was. He was a better shooter (and perhaps scorer, I would have to think about that one) and that was it. KG is the better rebounder, passer, defender, leader, etc.

Dirk always had a really good/great team around him, a good/great coach, and a great owner. Compare that to what KG had in Minnesota and it really isn't funny.

The difference between the Miami "3 headed monster" and Boston in 2008 is the fact that Boston's Big 3 all complimented each others style of play.  Miami has 3 players with similar skillsets - I was actually surprised they didn't have more problems.

Another difference is that Rondo and Perk were better than anything Miami trots out besides their big three.

Flame suit on........ I think both Dirk AND KG are overrated.

Good, even great. But overrated.

Dirk just had an amazing, legendary playoff run to ultimately capture finals MVP, after 11 straight seasons of bringing the mavs to the playoffs, a league MVP and 10 all star games.... KG couldn get the Timberwolves to the playoffs his last 3 seasons there...sorry, enough excuses...he shouldve gotten them to the playoffs, and he also lost 7 straight seasons in the first round...the furthest he got was what Durant just carried the thunder too.
KG simply wouldnt have carried a west team to the finals 2 times as lead dog...No way in hell
Last year in the finals he got destroyed on the glass by Pau Gasol.... how many Boards did each average in series against the heatt? can we stop being homers?

Dirk had a great team with him this year
not superstar but a great balanced team like
Olajuwon rockets
I dont know why people cut the fame on them but all of them
where not only role players but incredible effective basketball
players
thats why both of them became champions even when struggling
the other thing being creat coaching.

Dirk is after this year in the same category, for different reasons. I still think KGs carrer talks for him, not to mention he owns Dirk on constant basis.

Agreed overall except KG owning dirk regulararly? did u miss the recent matchups? or all of them?

Dirks mavs swept KG in there one playoff matchup, and dirk owned KG both scoring and on the boards

also, career head to head

So, yeah youre wrong...the only time KG ever really punked dirk was when he was a rookie barely ready for the NBA

I rather watch games
maybe that makes me wrong

Hmmm
Career head to head Dirk has a playoff series sweep where he dominated KG

Career head to head stats are so so close and career head to head win/loss is 17-16 Dirk
But ok

Well it's a what have you done for me lately world. I could have sworn I saw a is Dirk better than Bird discussion somewhere. Dirk is an amazing offensive player but personally I think KG is the better player because of his dominance on both ends of the floor.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.
