So Mike, I don't get it.
You mad that Riley didn't get superstars for the Heat's PG and Center spots?
You want Miami to be even more stacked then they already are?
Some say you can stick any joe off the street and play them next to Wade, Lebron and Bosh and the Heat would still win.
But basketball is still a team game and the opposition are the best in the world.
So it doesn't work out that way, which is why you saw Spoelestra's revolving door at the PG and Center spot.
Some guys play better with others. Different units mesh better than other units.
My admittedly self-centered point is this. I didn't think the Miller signing made much sense from the very beginning, thought the Haslem signing was at least questionable and that giving a 5 year contract to Joel Anthony was flat out dumb. Yet when I expressed those views here, certain people who shall remain nameless fell all over themselves defending Riley's moves and his obvious plan to put a "winning time" line up on the floor that didn't have a true PG or a true center as either brilliant or that it really didn't matter because Bron and Wade were just so great they'd compensate for any possible problem.
Now, given what we've seen in the regular season, the playoffs and that just about everybody agrees that Miami needs to make significant improvements in their team if they want to even come close to fulfilling their supposedly historic potential, I want to point out that the criticisms I and others had of the make up of the Heat roster have been somewhat validated.
And wouldn't you know it? There are still some people who want to defend Riley's moves or pretend there were no other options.
