The second unit was really solid when Quisy played last year.  I'd bring him back for the min but nothing higher.  He's very versatile and really added to the quality of the bench last year.

A bench of West, Quisy, Green at the 1, 2, 3 is very solid.  Those players would provide enough offensive options to make bringing back BBD as a 4 (and only as a 4, enough of him playing the 5 spot) a reasonable consideration.  Danny could focus on getting a couple of centers at that point and really solidify the roster.

Allow Bradley another year to develop.  Bring back Wafer as another option that can score off the bench and in the event Quisy and/or West go down with injuries again.
Great post.  Sounds like a realistic scenario.

Daniels isn't a guy that can stay healthy. I'd be willing to give him the vet minimum and ask him to ride the pine. However, I wouldn't want him to be a top rotation guy that we expect to play consistent minutes.

If they sign Green, Daniels will realistically be third string, and I think he'd take the vet minimum with another team where he at least was a first backup.

Disagree. Green will continue to see time at the 4, so Daniels will not only play in the backcourt, but as a 3 as well.

If BBD is resigned, Green probably sees very little minutes at the 4.  That is unless of course they decide to play small with KG at the 5.

At any rate, it would be good to have versatile guys like Green, West, Marquis to be able to mix and match on the fly to deal with injuries and such.

I'm thinking Marquis will garner little interest so that improves our chances to get him for the vet min if he's wanted.  Doc needs to butter him up over the summer; they both live in ORL.

No, waste of space. He's incapable of staying healthy for a whole season.

A valid concern.  However, assuming we bring back West, Wafer, and Green, we don't necessarily need him to stay healthy.  On top of that, can we really get a better 9-10 man than Marquis given our current state of affairs (aging core, no cap room, a set starting lineup that he can't crack)?

In a perfect world, we'd turn our noses.  But that's not the world in which we live.

the vet minimum is made for this kind of situation. even if he gets hurt and we have to waive him it costs nothing in terms of potential to sign other players save a roster spot. what chance do we really have of having 15 better players on the roster?

I like him but he's not the most durable guy.

If BBD is re-signed, and given our collective talent at the C spot, I can definitely see Doc, for better or worse, playing Green at the 4 and Davis at the 5. He did so in the playoffs and that was with Krstic and Murphy on the bench. Based on his track record, Doc would much rather go small and play Daniels, Green, and Baby along the frontline, than playing a 7 foot stiff for size. We won't rebound a lick, but that's what would likely happen if we aren't able to bring in someone Doc trusts to split minutes with JO.

1 year contract for the minimum? Sure why not.  We only have what 6-7 guys under contract for next season? Figure add at least 1 via the draft.  If healthy, he has the ability to play 10-15 minutes a night here and he knows the system.  I'd say he's well worth the risk.
do it

the heart says yes.  As much as the Celts see Jeff Green as Paul's backup, I just have a feeling he's going to play a ton of minutes at the 4.  If that's the case it's easy to see the value in having Daniels back.  As a business decision I have no idea, risk assessment, etc...
