Our second unit was never a shooting one, even when Nate was feeling it. It was always about posting - remember how Quis somehow always weaved his way in for the layup against ANY guy that stood in front of him? Even LeBron couldn't keep him away from the basket. Remember how good our defense was with Tony and Quis in the second unit? Quis is a really important part of this team, we should see it as: Next year we'll have Quis back, what's next? Get Tony back and get a couple of C's and we're done.
Unless you consider Posey a shooter, that kinda .. nope, doesn't change my point at all.
By the way having only Green playing 3 is a fail. He won't always be there. Quis is always there.

If they sign Green, Daniels will realistically be third string, and I think he'd take the vet minimum with another team where he at least was a first backup.

Not exactly true. Daniels is a very, very versatile player, capable of spelling time at 1, 2, or 3. There is no team he wouldn't be able to go to and help. If he's really healthy, he's going to get some attention in the league, he took a discount to play here on the LLE two years ago, even if it didn't work out perfect; everyone around the league was saying that signing may have been the steal of the year when it happened, there's a reason for that.

On the Celtics, he'd be a very useful player, imagine him in a line up with Rondo, Paul, and Green. 4 6'6+ players in the wings running the break with Rondo, difficult to stop. There are so many line up combinations you can use with a guy like Daniels on the team. I'd be all for bringing him back, he was great for us up until the injury.

I'd love to have him back, he's a vet that probably could be had for cheap and knows the system. A second unit that starts with Delonte, Quis, and Green could be very good defensively. Also it would be big enough to create match up problems for the other teams.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't feel you can take that big of a risk given his past medical history dating back to his Pacers days.

only resign him for absolute minimum...jeff green needs all the minutes he can get at the 3, MD would get no more than a few minutes a game

Disagree. Green will continue to see time at the 4, so Daniels will not only play in the backcourt, but as a 3 as well.

I'd bring him back for sure BUT...I'd want Rondo, Ray Pierce and all their 2nd option back ups...and then Marquis.

Pierce / Green / Marquis
Ray / Delonte / Marquis
Rondo / Bradley / Marquis

In other words, I wouldn't want him to be the primary back up behind and of my starter, just based on his injury history. I kind of feel the same way about Delonte...

Really like both guys, but it's dicey if you put them in the position of primary back up.

for the veteran minimum yes, given his medical record & spine injury.

The second unit was really solid when Quisy played last year.  I'd bring him back for the min but nothing higher.  He's very versatile and really added to the quality of the bench last year.

A bench of West, Quisy, Green at the 1, 2, 3 is very solid.  Those players would provide enough offensive options to make bringing back BBD as a 4 (and only as a 4, enough of him playing the 5 spot) a reasonable consideration.  Danny could focus on getting a couple of centers at that point and really solidify the roster.

Allow Bradley another year to develop.  Bring back Wafer as another option that can score off the bench and in the event Quisy and/or West go down with injuries again.

Wouldn't hurt.  But if Green and West are back, he's not really a huge need.

Haven't the past few seasons shown us that it's nice to have a third-string option at various positions that don't make you cringe?  On the other hand, it's a concern if you bring in a player who will rival Jermaine O'Neal and Delonte West in the prediction contest for most games missed.

Right.  However, I don't know how you define a huge need.  A solid third string option would be nice.  But to me, the huge need we have on this team is big men, as we currently have only two guys over 6-9 on our roster, and both are in their mid-30s.

So yes, I'd like Marquis Daniels at the minimum, but let's get ourselves some centers (and power forwards for that matter) first.

The decision to bring back Daniels or not pretty much has no effect on getting big men unless you pay him more than the minimum.

At this point, with Pierce and Green likely on the roster for next season, I would view Marquis Daniels as primarily a guard for roster purposes.  So, it may be a choice of Quisy vs Wafer or a dedicated back-up point guard or some other free agent option.

At this point, I'd be happy if Ainge promises Daniels a training camp invite at minimum for him to fall back on if nothing else good materializes.

I think he's a shoe in at the Vet minimum. We will need his versatility and it's one less guy who has to learn the system. I say sign him.

if he's willing to sign for the vet minimum, maybe not even a fully guaranteed deal (like delonte's), then absolutely. that is to say, as long as the doctors say he's recovered from the freak spinal injury.

yes - at the very least he's a much better option than Jeff Green
I believe you are being sarcastically funny, but  they both fill needs at different positions...and it is too soon to pass judgement on Jeff Green, IMO.  Give Green a chance to go through a preseason training camp, at least.  It seems that our major need is at big man, though.
