I'm confused by the "pipe dream" in the title and the OP's "keep it realistic".  I'll stay closer to the latter...

My ideal offseason target would be Carl Landry for the MLE.
Celtics fan for life.

My ideal scenario is still a trade of Rondo and filler (Davis, JO, whatever) for Chris Paul and Okafor.

I'll roll the dice to try to resign Paul (as I think they will make it very beneficial for him to resign on the new CBA), and that puts us right back near the top of list of favorites for the championship next year.

Since we have no other great options at center, Okafor would be a good fit.  That's the trade I'd like to do, as well.

I really like Okafor.  The only downside is that it makes it tough to go after a guy like Howard (which is more than a longshot anyways), and puts the C's at the top of the lottery for a while if Paul walks.  But, it is worth the risk for me.

Paul, Ray, Pierce, KG, Okafor is the best starting lineup in the league.

That would be an awesome starting 5.   If we had Okafor in our back pocket I would think about aggressively pursuing a risky guy like Greg Oden.  An Okafor/Oden tandem at C if healthy would be really nice.

agree with all of the above.
love rondo but cp and okafor would be  to good to pass up.

and we stil; have the mle to go after oden!

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
grab Iguodala somehow and move Ray or Pierce to the Bench.
Or grab Monta Ellis and move Ray to the bench.

Green could start for Pierce much more easily if Ellis was playing because he could carry Pierce's scoring load easily and more. But I'd like Pierce to start for one more year, just give him a break and take the scoring load off his back with Ellis.

Maybe have starting 5 of
Rondo
Ellis
Pierce
KG
Center (unsure who)

Bench:
Ray
Delonte
Carl Landry
Tayshaun Prince
Green
2 really, really big, big bigs.

Read that last line again. One more time.

My Aldridge pipe dream goes beyond this off-season.  In my scenario, the Blazers give Oden a stupid contract, Oden and Roy break down, and the Blazers have no choice but to trade Aldridge and rebuild.

I would also accept Donald Sterling being stupid and doing something (like being himself) that leads to Blake Griffin wanting out of the Clip joint.

I think those are realistic scenarios in that they could unfold without aliens (or Isaiah Thomas) secretly taking over a team.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Pipe Dream...

Dwight Howard. He'll help big time.
#2 selection would be a healthy Andrew Bogut.
#3 is Marc Gasol.
#4 would be a healthy Yao Ming.
#5 Monta Ellis who's playing as a Sixth Man.

Keep it realistic...

a healthy and will stay healthy and getting paid only 4 mil Greg Oden would be fine for me. Hey, it can be real.

Keeping it more real...

Like the above post. I'd want Darko playing for C's (yes Darko). He maybe a bust but 2 blocks on 20 minutes a game as a backup ain't gonna be that bad. Give David Khan a PG for Darko.
