Would you want your team to take a vacated title due to rules violations?

I think it would depend.

I would call this whole NCAA dog and pony show concerning USC and Ohio State the equal of the government employee getting the dreaded "suspended with pay" for wrongdoing.

Symbolism over substance.

What's the point?

They lost the game.

They got their money already.

What does taking the title give them?

When I was a freshman, my high school basketball team went all the way to the State championship for D3.  We lost to some team in Cambridge but later, we found that MIAA had vacated their championship because they had a couple ineligible players on their roster.  They asked if we wanted to play again against the semifinal loser on the other side but our team voted against it because we were already 1 month into the baseball season.

Too bad, never fun when someone's messing around the rules.  Screw USC and screw that Cambridge basketball team.
