  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
A lot of people seem to want to trade higher into this draft. I'd much rather try to trade into next years draft. Next years draft is where the Celtics could probably get some really good building blocks or trade chips.
We should set ourselves up for next year's FA market potentially along with a total rebuild once KG/Ray's contracts are expired.

I think we could pull some 2012 picks from some teams while maintaining the capspace for 2012. It might cost us a shot at the 2012 title, but I don't think the shot we do have is very realistic as of right now. I think the best way to get a solid pick would be deal with fringe teams like Memphis, ATL, Portland, etc. Teams that could use experience to get a bit farther, but that could still possibly slip out of the play-offs.

For Ray Allen we should get picks #2 and #20 plus a second next year. otherwise no deal.

So we trade our starting SG and 2 first rounders to move up in one of the weaker drafts in recent memory? Makes total sense... :o

idk, people say he's similar to LeBron Jame's playing style, but kid hasn't proved himself yet

and I seriously doubt he will be near the caliber of James...though he could be an all-star and a good player to start with Rondo and build around them.

Though my hopes for using the Clips pick on Andre Drummond in 2012 =(

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If Danny Ainge was offered Ray for the number 2 pick in the NBA draft there is absolutely, positively, ZERO chance that he turns it down.

Anyone else who turns it down is a green glasses wearing homer as well. We free up 10 million whilst getting the number 2 pick!??
Kanter or Williams- take your pick, you HAVE to take the deal.

The 10 million can get us Rip Hamilton or another decent SG for a year or 2.

Would people seriously turn this down?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

So Ray Allen and 2 picks for Derrick Williams is what you are offering?

OF course the Celts take this deal.  Derrick Williams is the best player in the draft by far and is right now better than Blake Griffin.  Yes, yes you can argue all you want about K. Irving or how incredibly overrated Blake Griffin's dunks are to his overall game, but the D. Williams is 6'9" with a 40+ inch vertical, a beast of an inside game and can shoot 3s.

I would trade anyone but KG, PP and Rondo to get Derrick Williams.

Cleveland will rue the day they drafted Irving and not D. Williams...Sam Bowie anyone?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Well for one, the garbage contracts we'd be taking back would be Darko, Pekovic, and Ridnour. That puts the C's on the line for 12 million dollars in cap room for the next 3 years with mediocre talent (and that's kind of being generous).

Secondly, Minnesota does this deal knowing full well the Ray Allen cap relief they'd get would only land second tier FA's they'd have to over-pay for. They won't be a winner and they won't be a big market team anymore than they are today. Right back to the lottery with no sure thing for the future. They might as well advertise "Large contract for middling journeyman" on craigslist for all the good it will do them.

Thirdly, the Celtics break a faithful agreement you understand they entered into with Ray Allen the day he exercised his option. Agents don't forget that, and agents have as much sway in the NBA as any player.

I hope Derrick Williams (a guy who be competing with not one, not two, but three established minute hogging players on our roster (Pierce, Garnett, and Green) is worth it.

EDIT: Now were I Minnesota, (and I'm obviously not..that's a state and I'm just a guy), I'd trade Darko, Pekovic, Ridnour, and the #2 for McGee, the #6, and maybe try to slide Nick Young in there too and be done with it.

I'd think Ray would retire on the spot, especially if a lockout starts.
