Happy to have Jeff Green

I really enjoy him as a player. I think with a full traning camp and a full off season for Doc to see how he can use this kid he will be more improved. I really want him to excel with this team and be a future piece with rondo. I truley believe he can be a guy that is scoring 20-23 ppg a night, If he works on his game some more. He is still very young,athletic, and smart. I really hope he can work on his game a little with Pierce. He has the quickness of Pierce and could benifit a lot from him. I wanna hear some of everyones thoughts of Jeff! Thanks!

Like I've said here on several occasions, I think Green will be a very good to great player for the Celts. I still feel that way. I thought he'd have it by the playoffs this year but unfortunately he only showed flashes of what he can do. Maybe the pressure was just too much for him, people's expectations (myself included) were huge when he got to Boston. And maybe there were also just too many plays to remember, unlike in OKC where you can always get the ball in either Durant's or Westbrook's hands and get out of the way. There was too little time to learn everything by heart. With more time spent with this team, I simply think we are going to love Jeff Green.

As a Jeff Green fan, you didn't want to do this to yourself.

The only benefit to Jeff Green is that with his size, he can really get up and guard the LeBrons and Carmelos when Pierce is out (even though he usually just picks up some quick fouls)

Other than that, he's an awful offensive player who can't go strong to the hoop and his post defense is terrible to where you can't use him at the 4 ; only the 3.  Oh, and not a good decision maker.

Good guy to have with the second unit as long as you have a couple legitimate scorers next to him

I don't see Green as a 20 to 23 point player, and I don't see him ever becoming great.

However, I do think he can be useful.  I think he has the potential to be about average as a starting SF, or very good as a sixth man if he embraces that role.

I think you are overstating the case a bit.  Yes, he is not an elite offensive player, but he is above average.  He is a very solid shooter, he can finish in the paint, and he has even shown the ability to create his own shot at times (although he is not great at it).  

I am certainly concerned about his rebounding and decision-making though.  In college, he was always sold as an intelligent and tough player, and while he is no Tony Allen in the brains department, he has made way too many dumb mistakes since joining the C's.

I still have hope that after a training camp with the team, he will improve in these areas, simply by being more comfortable, and not over-thinking things, which will hopefully also allow him to be more aggressive.  But, until he actually does it, it is just hope.

I like Green but im still not sure how he is going to fit here with the Celts with Pierce in front of him for the next three years. Green needs 30 + minutes to make his impact on the game, and he isnt going to find that with Pierce as the starting SF. Green is a SF and doesnt play very well when he transfers over to the 4 position so its going to be tough to get him into his groove when playing 20 minutes or less.

I give him a pass or the benefit of the doubt for things i felt he was bad at up to this point...with a training camp and becoming better familiar with the team we should expect to see a more efficient rebounder and defender.So far his rebounding and one on one defense hasn't impressed.

I like Jeff Green alot. I think he can be a solid third or fourth option on a championship team. His defense improved in his short time last year, and will only get better. I can't believe that some say he is an awful offensive player. He can run the floor, knock down jumpers out to the 3 point line, and even play with his back to the basket a little. I think he will be a big piece in the Celtics' future.

The biggest benefit with him is going to be his ability or potential to guard the 3 spot (Carmelo, Lebron, Durant).

He is a triple threat when it comes to scoring- he can get to the hole, he can shoot, and he can post up pretty much any 3/4 defender in the low block quite well.

His biggest problem goes unnoticed- that is his HORRIBLE footwork.
This guy comes off and lands on the wrong foot when driving to the rim more than anyone I've seen in recent time.
Watch him closer if you don't know what i'm talking about.
His poor footwork affects his shot around the rim and his ability to finish when getting fouled- and I can't believe a coach of his hasn't tried to sort it out.

I am also hoping he only gets the one year offer as to not effect 2012.  If he improves, resign him then.  If not, cap space and sign and trades.

I like Jeff Green a lot as well. I said this before and people will hammer me for it, but something about his athleticism reminds me of James Worthy. He doesn't have the talent of Worthy obviously, but the way he gets up and down the floor for his size reminds me of him.

He did some nice things while here. He many not have met all our expectations but he did some nice things offensively and his defense made some dramatic improvements as we got into the Miami series. Give the kid a full training camp and season and then let's see where he's at - I have a feeling we're all going to like him "a lot" better this time next year.

Also, I don't just look at Green only in terms of how much does he help this team, I'm looking at him as how I think he'll fit on a rebuilt team, as our 3rd or 4th options, on a high octane team that gets up and down the court with Rondo at the wheel.

He fits pretty well into that picture for me, based on his abilities. He's not going to have to the man, just a good solid piece.

If he gets around 30-35 minutes a night next year, I see him settling in at around 15-20 a night with 6-8 boards and much improved individual and team defense playing under Rivers and the Celtics system.

He just has to learn to be more active and aggressive. With his skills he should be able to get 15/5/3 in his sleep on this team. It shouldn't take him almost 40 minutes like it did in OKC.

Regarding his rebounding numbers; you have to remember he played the 4 for OKC and naturally you are going to get more rebounds at this position than at the 3.  If the C's utilize him at the 3 don't expect the same rebounding output.
