Warriors = an undersized backcourt + finesse three + below average defensive PF + one of the worst defensive Cs in the league
That is their starting lineup. With the exception of Udoh, they don't have much defense off the bench either in their rotation.
Keith Smart did about as well as one could do defensively with such limited personnel. I thought he did well to get 36 wins out of that roster.

But at least it sounds like their ownership is committed to changing that and are targeting a defensively talented center to anchor their interior defense. That will make a big difference.
If they traded one of those small guards for a SF with legit size and above average D, plus the center they acquired in free agency, the Warriors defensive prospects could get interesting in hurry.
Steph Curry is capable of playing mediocre defense. Monta Ellis is an above average defender at the point. So whichever one of those they keep. Then Dorrel Wright as a two guard is an above average defender (not at SF, lightweight physically, gets pushed around too easily). Then the newly acquired SF (say Iggy). David Lee (preferably Udoh). Plus, hopefully a free agent center (Oden? Nene? M.Gasol? D.Jordan?).
That would be a pretty good defensive lineup. Quality shot-blocker at the rim. Elite wing defender. Average to above average defenders in the backcourt. Weak link in David Lee but they can work around him. A potential high quality PF defender in Udoh to replace him someday (please!). Defensive talent there.
That is what it looks like the ownership is hoping / planning to do this summer or sometime in the near future.
