Replay of the Rockets - Magic Finals.

Vets would have toyed with the messiahs

It's not like the Heat this year were 2 years into the league like Penny or 3 like Shaq. Lebron and Wade have been to the finals and Wade's won a ring. Completely different scenario.

Disagree.  Horace Grant won rings, too.

Green (inexperienced) team who hasn't been together vs Green team of hungry single-purposed vets.

OK, this second scenario is something I can buy. But setting it up as a vet v. younins thing made no sense to me.

Scratch that, i can't buy this scenario either because in 08 we had just come together also.

"For what it's worth, that entire postseason, Ray and Paul never faced defenders as good as LeBron and Wade"

uh, yes they did, James specifically.......... and of course, Sheed was much better than Haslem and Bryant a better defender than Wade.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

At the same time? While Pierce was guarded by Bron Ray had Wally Z and when Kobe had Ray Paul was guarded by Vladamir Radmonovic.

I don't think you can argue that those 3 teams didn't have the same level of defense as Miami or multiple good defenders.

Cleveland:  James, West, Wallace, Big Z, Smith, Varejao, Pavlovic, Gibson
Detroit:  Wallace, Prince, Billups, McDyess, Stuckey, Hunter, Ratliff
Lakers:  Bryant, Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Vuvacic, Turiaf, Arizs
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

That's not what i was arguing, I was arguing that none of those teams presented the individual challenges to both Paul and Ray that Miami would.

True. Now what challenges has this Miami faced?  The 2008 Celtics smothered a very good offensive team in the Lakers.  I think they would have had much the same success against this year's Heat.
We all think we know more than we really do....

former all stars is different than current all stars i hope you know that.  i dont think you could find a person out there that wouldnt say Orlando really shot themselves in the foot after adding all these 'stars' youre talking about.  By your logic our team this year should have blown people away by epic proportions.  After all, we had Shaq AND Jermaine O'neal playing on the same team riiiiiiight??
