I truly consider the 08 team one of the best teams in history, up there with the other Celtic, Laker, and Bulls teams.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I know it's asking for trouble in these parts to say this, but even the hated HOLLINGER rates the 2008 Celts as one of the best teams ever...

Fafnir, on the SRS number, it should be noted that the Heat were a noticeably different team in the second half of the team as opposed to the beginning, in large part due to their learning curve of playing with each other.

It would be an interesting matchup. That 2008 defense really did a historically incredible job of shutting down teams with offenses dependent on one player. I'm curious how it would do against 2 incredible scorers and one very good one.

A lot of it would come down to 2008 Rondo crushing the Bibby/Chalmers matchup. For what it's worth, that entire postseason, Ray and Paul never faced defenders as good as LeBron and Wade. Haslem might give the C's some trouble off the bench too.

I think it would def. go seven games. I know it's easy to write them off - but Wade/Bron are two top 5 players in the NBA. In 2008, KG was top 5, Pierce was between 10-15 and Ray was maybe between 25-35.  Stars win in this league - so it would certainly be a slugfest and considering that LeBron took us to 7 that year...

At least KG would destroy Bosh. That would be a virtual certainty.

Eddie will probably play a significant amount of minutes as oppose to just sitting on the bench... our ol' boy Powe will be playing for us, can't beat that.

Celtics, no doubt. That team was one of the best ever. It's just too bad we got KG and Ray Ray as they were on the way down from their peak years.

But yeah the 07-08 Celtics would destroy just about anyone, even the Heat.

the '08 team would win -- better roleplayers, and the Big 3 complemented each other better than Miami's do.

LBJ / Wade / Bosh don't really complement each other that well right now, but they have so much talent and freakish athleticism that it doesn't matter.

One thing is certain -- there would be very little scoring in that series.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

08 no doubt not only because of the overall team that they had that year, but the big 3 were younger and healthy and hungry for that 1st ring. KG would have destroyed Bosh and I'm positive on that. He was hungry that year and healthy he would not have let anyone get in his way in winning.Wade and LeBron are different stories, but the bench would have stepped up big time (unlike this years) and helped this team to win.
I keep hearing people talk about 04 pistons and I wonder how would those two play out? I would probably say Celtics, but I could see that series being long and just amazing to see.

It's not like the Heat this year were 2 years into the league like Penny or 3 like Shaq. Lebron and Wade have been to the finals and Wade's won a ring. Completely different scenario.

I say this Miami Team wins. Our '08 team was the best team in the league but I think that the league has gotten a lot stronger since '08. We barely had two all-star players playing together in the league in '08. Everyone was shocked at Kobe and Gasol together. Now we have Wade and Lebron, Carmelo and Amare, and look at all the star names on Orlando... the league has just gotten much tougher. Also our bench was just really non-existant. Eddie house, and TA didn't really play that much and our bench really consisted on just Posey and PJ Brown... sometimes Cassell. That wouldn't have gotten it done.

Become Legendary.

Disagree.  Horace Grant won rings, too.

Green (inexperienced) team who hasn't been together vs Green team of hungry single-purposed vets.
