no way. wasn't it varejao that was out of work a couple years ago and signed with cleveland mid season? that flopper is way overvalued.

You're thinking of Joe Smith.  Andy has been a crucial part of Cleveland's team since they traded for him after Orlando drafted him.

I have no idea if it would get it done, but I would probably do it, if Andy is fully recovered.
A mobile help defender who can rebound next to KG? Who can effectively defend either PF or C?

*drool*

I really think Andy is very comparable to Noah.  He isn't quite as good a rebounder, but defensively he is about the same, and I think he is a little better offensively (he is a very quick finisher off the dump passes, and offensive rebounds).  Get him in a role where he is playing big minutes, and I think people would be very happy with him.  And yes, he would be great to watch next to KG.

Nice. Like this line of thinking; but would hope we could get more for Green and they obviously have big plans for Bradley (or they are bluffing).

Not wild about the line up options. Green fills a lot of holes and C's need scoring from second unit.

TP for Gar.  Not wild about that line-up either.  Losing BBD and JG would give us little depth at the 3 and 4 because there is no way Pav or TMurphy are touching the floor next season if we want to win 55-60 games.

This would be so much easier if Philly didn't have Thad Young so we could just move Green and BBD to them for Iggy......

Didn't Andy sit out half a season when he was an RFA and sign a deal which Cleveland matched? That might be what he means.

Well, they wouldn't necessarily be losing BBD in this scenario, and if they get Andy, it frees them up to just resign Krstic as backup center (unless they are really confident in JOs health), so, even if they do lose BBD, they would still potentially have the MLE and LLE to address the backup PF spot, and backup wing.

If they did this deal, I would like to see them try to resign Krstic and Davis, throw the MLE at someone like JR Smith or Jamaal Crawford as scoring off the bench, and then use the LLE for someone like Anthony Parker.

Yeah, I forgot about that.  But I wouldn't refer to him being out of work, since Cleveland wanted him back all season, they just couldn't come to terms on a contract.

In a heart beat.

Center is by far the weakest position.

Neither Green nor Bradley has shown to fit with the starters.

As a bonus, he can be C next to KG, C next to Davis, PF next to JO.

As a bonus if Jermaine is healthy he could cut Davis's minutes down to 10 per game.

Really guys Anderson Varejao is the answer.

The Celtics lost because they could not score in the 4th quarter.  Our two best scorers PP and RA were being guarded by Lebron and Wade.  Varejao does nothing for this team.

Depending on how the CBA turns out his contract could be very difficult to swallow.

I understand the point of getting a mobile big but he will not help us.  I think we would be better off targeting an athletic quality 4 man as KG can play the 5 against 80% of todays Centers in crunch time.  I would be calling MJ everyday asking to Tyrus Thomas.

:)

I'd probably do an AV trade. Would rather do BBD and AB, instead of Green and BBD though.

Oh we need to address offense as well somehow this off season. But given BBD's awful playoff performance we need to look to have other options late in games. Varejo can give us everything he does with better shot selection to fit with our starters and better rebounding.

My first choice for the team would be a center who can score in the post. Shaq showed what this kind of guy can do for the C's.

Yea that's what I met. I couldn't remember exactly why he sat out but I remembered it being about contract problems. Technically if he was a FA (restricted or not) and not playing basketball, in my book, he was out of work haha but anyways, I think at some points during that year they weren't sure if he would actually come back and play for them.

In either case, he's definitely not worth the money he's being paid and most definitely not worth Green (which apparently has the trade value of Perkins) let alone him and Bradley together. If you agree to this trade you are essentially trading Perkins for Varejao.

Maybe Al Jefferson? He's one of the last strictly low post offensive centers left in the game. Yes, his defense is terrible, but I'm sure if BBD can be a good team defender, he can too. I remember in his last season with us, we beat SA for the first time in Texas in like 17 years by just giving him the ball against Duncan.
