i'd pull the trigger and i think it would be something for cleveland to consider. Cleveland is weak at the 3 spot so Jeff Green would help there. If they draft Kanter with the 4th pick which i predict happening i don't see why they'd keep Varejao around. Maybe they throw Semih in the deal as well?

Varejao has always frustrated me when playing the C's. He gets under the opponents skin, gets those loose balls and the hustle he brings every night is invaluable in this league. I'd like him as either the starting 5 or the 4/5 coming off the bench. The only problem i'd see with it is whether or not Danny wants to take on Varejaos contract (34 Mill over 4 years) I think he's worth every penny but that's just my opinion

potential line up:

Rondo/ Delonte
Ray Ray/ FA Scorer (JR Smith?)
Pierce/ Pavlovic or FA
Garnett/ Murphy/ Draft pick (Faried?)
Varejao/ JO/ Semih

paying over 10 mil a year for a player that can't even sniff the all-star team kills a franchise.  his contract is 1 of the worst in the league.

Absolutely a mobile defender like Varejao is more valuable than Green in trying to contend next year.

Its not even in the top 5 of worst contracts among big men.

I agree, I don't think its a terrible contract, Im just not sure that having a role player like him on the books for a while is good business when you don't know who your stars are going to be for the longterm

Rasheeds has gotta be number one. If i'm not mistaken he's getting payed 6.8 mill to lounge around his house next year.

I have no idea if it would get it done, but I would probably do it, if Andy is fully recovered.

He's only due 27 million guarenteed over the next 3 years, his fourth year at 10 million is only partially guarenteed. (some sort of incentives clause)

no way. wasn't it varejao that was out of work a couple years ago and signed with cleveland mid season? that flopper is way overvalued.

Become Legendary.

First, I want to retract my statement about the over 10 mil, as I am now aware that he is due around 8.5 a year for the next 4, but it is around 10 that last season.

Maybe it's not as horrible as I thought, but I still think he is overpaid.

Regardless I don't have to worry about it because I know Ainge for whatever reason thinks he is getting D12 and won't give up that financial flexibility.

A mobile help defender who can rebound next to KG? Who can effectively defend either PF or C?

If somehow this trade went down we'd have a minimum of a $35 mill invested in the team (between Rondo, Pierce, & Varejao) in 2012. would we still have the cap space to land a major free agent and are we attractive enough for one to want to come here? That's the burning question i keep asking myself.

Maybe we'd be better off trading for a guy like Chris Kaman whos contract is up next year then we can make a decision from there.

Just throwing some ideas out there...

In my honest opinion i think that the Celtics best option is landing a center via trade this offseason because the FA Centers arent the most intriguing bunch (Aside from Dalembert and i'd bet my marbles he'll be in a Miami Heat uniform next season)

If by out of work you mean holding out for a better contract because they low balled him in restricted free agency.
