While not young or athletic, I think beginning of the season Shaq gave us an idea of what this team can be with a big who can finish around the rim...its not surprise that Rondo's assist numbers jumped, and the offense opened up as teams had to defend for shaq putting the ball in the hole if they strayed to stop Ray, pp, kg....Rondo is an offensive minded centers best friend...Alleyoops all game

IMO, we are a scoring 2, and an athletic big for the 4/5 from being competitive...whiel we did lose to the heat in 5 games, we did IMO give them a bigger fight than the bulls...and our loss could be attributed to poor Bench play, our big 3 being gassed at the end of games, injuries to rondo and our bigs...I feel pretty confident we have another year in us..I dont see PP/RA dropping off...but we need someone to compliment KG

good post, ive been thinking of that lately, I think without Rondo, Shaq wouldve been injured a lot earlier. Most baskets he scored as a celtics were easy passes by Rondo and Pierce.

too bad, recent posts of Dwight make me lose hope to getting him.

Though I want the Celtics to draft Andre Drummond. I like that kid and think he has a HUGE potential. Pretty sure him and Rondo will be great together

So Oden or D. Jordan would fit that criteria right?

Not to nitpick, but even at his current age, KG still has one of the best combinations of size, skill, and athleticism you will find in the league.

I understand that you want someone else in addition to him, but I think people forget what they have in that guy.

Deandre jordan is not offensively skilled. He can dunk and jump sure but he can't shoot a free throw to save his life and he was only a 7pt/7reb guy last year and had very similar stats in college.

He has hit his ceiling, and his ceiling aint that great.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Yeah, I think people get wrapped up in his size, and the performance he had against the C's, throwing down wide open dunks, and build this kid up to be more than what he is.

Now, he absolutely has potential as a defensive player and rebounder, and he can finish above the rim.  But he is still a very mediocre player overall, and has a ton to learn.  I would still take him for the right price, but I don't see him as the savior some others seem to think he could be.

Don't get me wrong his block numbers are impressive for a 22 year old, but other than dunks he is offensively inept.

Remember that just because rondo is there doesn't mean Jordan would get 5 alleys a game. He's currently with one of the best alley oop teams in the league and only averages 7ppg

Lets also remember that Rondo is best known for throwing Alley-oops to KG.  The reason he is able to do that is because KG is such a threat from the perimeter, that it allows him to sneak in backdoor when guys overplay him.  That won't happen with a guy like Jordan.

I agree, but KG's not especially fast as a power forward these days. He doesn't consistently outrun his guy anymore.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

True.  But to find a guy who will be that athletic and still have some basketball skills is incredibly hard to do.

Yikes! That is a big dude with long arms! So to get him the C's would probably have to tank the 2012-13 season, win the lottery and draft this guy after his freshman season.

Oh to dream...

Well rondo threw a lot of oops to shaq as well. Having another threat on offense really opens things up. Perk was a good defensive center but teams never had to worry about him on offense because he had to gather first

Look aat how much guys like semih and kristic looked great with rondo at the point. These guys were getting double digits...I would expect any center whi can finish at the rom will see his ppg go up playing with rondo

I hold my breath on those alley-opps to KG -- if you know what I mean.

You gotta have real good spacing (B. Griffin) for D. Jordan to be as effective as he was that night in Boston. Be interesting to see if he's offered a MLE or do the Clips overpay?
