Listen, I liked Semih.  I thought he did a good job filling in when we were desperate for frontcourt help.  He seems like he could be a decent backup C in the league.  Decent hands, reasonably athletic.

He ain't worth no first rounder, though.  Terrible rebounder.  Not a terrific defender.  Just not that good. 

Plus, rumor was he wanted to go back to Turkey.

I think decent backup is a bit too much. Maybe mediocre backup, solid 14th man.

Yeah, supposedly the Celtics traded him because he was really homesick and wanted to go back to Turkey.  Otherwise they wouldn't have given up on him so readily.

I understand he isn't great but we know what we're getting, anything in this draft is uncertain especially at 25. Danny won't sign any 1st round pick because the first 2 years are guaranteed,
(it works against 2012 plan) and it probably stays like that in the new CBA. So when we get Semih he is athletic and young, and healthy he could be had for only 800 k. I think we should do this.

There are always players comparable to Semih and that can fill the same role available in free-agency.

If Danny doesn't want to sign the pick, he can:
- trade it for a future pick
- sign someone that agrees to go/stay aboard to develop
- trade it for cash and use the money to sign someone better than Semih

To trade the pick for a 5th big is what makes the least sense.

I also don't think that the quality of the players available in the late 1st round in this draft is worse than in any other draft. The difference may be in the lottery, in the amount of top talent available, but after that it's pretty much the same every year.

Even if he trades for a future 1st it will be be at least top 25 protected since this year's draft is very weak,yeah the option to keep player abroad or send them there but we're talking about this trade alone, Cleveland couldn't just take a 2nd pick for Semih.

uhm, no. let's not trade for Semih. He was nice and all but completely replaceable, even by players in the D-League. we can just sign them and not give up a pick

He is the kind of player I would love to see in training camp, earning his spot as a free agent. But trading for him? Not so much. There are better talents at no. 25 in this draft.

I love it.  I'd love to get Semih back, and Leuer is one of my favorites in this draft.  Nothing lost there, as far as I can see.

I have to believe Semih was traded for a reason.  Whether it is physical stuff, or off the court stuff, something told these guys that he was not a good bet to be a longterm success in this league.  I trust them on this.
