I love baby but maybe we could trade up and get a young athletic PF who could be just as effective and maybe a better rebounder for less money..

The question is would any club trade their higher first rounder for a glen sign and trade?

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Danny can't trade BBD on draft day. His contract is up. He is a free agent.

It would have to prior agreement to acquire the pick in a sign and trade ... with BBD agreeing to sign to a contract ... which is just about impossible to do (nevermind against the rules - team(s) talking to Glen about a contract prior to FA opening).

The best chance is convincing a team to part with a future first round pick in a sign and trade for Glen Davis after free agency officially opens in July. That too though is hugely unlikely. A team can just sign him outright without losing an asset. Very unlikely they'd choose to make a deal like that. Boston have little leverage since BBD is an unrestricted FA this time around.

In that case I'd probably be in favor of letting him walk in search of more money/court time, and getting a PF guy in the draft or through a FA signing.

It's clear that Glen Davis' time in Boston is over and not getting an asset in return might be the way it turns out.

yeah we have to wait untill the new cba is formed & to see if s&t is even allowed but it would have to be with a team ho's looking to rid themselves of a player only team i think of is oj mayo in memphis (before yall say memphis wouldnt do it remember indianna was going to get him for that dunleavy guy)

  • Rondo = Good
most likely we'll get nothing in return for Glen Davis, other than an open roster space and some extra money to throw at somebody to fill it.

You could probably get the 35th pick for him in this draft.

If your talking about this draft, after hearing how bad it is, yeah probably. The thing is that we can't actually trade Baby since he's technically a FA. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. 2012 draft I doubt it.

Don't see how people think that we can get anything for Davis in a s&e. Nobody will give him more then the MLE and he is not a restricted free agent. Why would another team give anything of value to acquire Davis when they could just sign him outright?

Here we have a player who was considered a strong contender for sixth man for much of this last year, who was CLEARLY a key guy for us, who played a lot of roles and helped stabilize a season that was fraught with difficulties, and yet you consider him to be a goner, and you consider Jeff Green, who gave us next to nothing, a guy to build around?!

Look at yourselves, people.  What you are doing to Baby is textbook SCAPEGOATING.   I was as disappointed as anyone with his play in the playoffs, but that doesn't cancel out everything he's done for this team.  We could most certainly do worse than hang on to Baby. Chances are he's worth more to us than he is to any other team.

When you think about trading at peak value, Baby was far more valuable a year ago and at the trade deadline.  His playoff performance destroyed any chance getting anthing of value in an S&T.  I am sure that there are many teams that would take a chance on him at 2-4 million per.  This means that Baby's best chance at maximizing his payday would be to test free agency.

Thats textbook BS. Big Baby is a selfish player who cared more about his own stats and getting paid than winning, and it was clear in the playoffs. He is the one who made himself the story, saying "i need to find glen." talking about himself in third person like a total idiot.

big baby has vastly overacheived as a player, and for that i thank him. but his time here is done. it's not scapegoating when he was clearly the biggest disappointment in the playoffs. and it isnt even close.
