From my distant perspective, he didn't play because if he was going to, he was going to take mins from Delonte, and it's clear from the limited time we saw of Delonte this season that he is just a fundamentally more sound player than Wafer. Especially with the playoffs fast approaching Doc wanted a more solid, dependable guy.
That being said, to me Wafer has more upside if he stays healthy, can provide more scoring punch and really showed some quick hands on D at points. If we keep Rondo/Ray, I would be all for re-signing our entire backcourt including Arroyo if we can get them cheap enough. Delonte/Wafer as Ray's backup, Delonte/Arroyo as Rondo's backup, and if Doc's plan is to reduce mins for the Big 3 once again there will be plenty of mins there for Wafer to prove himself throughout the season.
