Rumor is that Danny has given a promise to Jackson and that is why he pulled out of the combine.

Wouldnt be the first time danny has done this. Read about this on realgm and they are all up in arms that this would be terrible because of avery bradly already on the team.

I think its a great idea, jackson is bigger then avery, supposidly he is 6'3 200+lbs with 7 ft wing span, thats big enough to guard 2 guards ( same size as TA).

The modern nba is a quick man's game 6'3 is now normal for a sg, years ago that was way to small. If true danny must like this kid and figure that he is the best value in a week draft.

1. I don't think Reggie pulls out of the combine with a promise so late in the draft. I think he would try to improve his stock and get a promise higher up.
2. I thought I read that he got hurt and that's why he didn't participate.
3. I think he will be a very good NBA player, great athletecism touch, handle and vision.
4. I assume this will be moot because he goes before we pick.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

I think Jackson is a border-line NBA talent at best.

(As a BC alum, I hope he proves me wrong, though.)

I don't think Reggie Jackson's got the pop he used to have.  He must be at least 50.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I heard he was a late first/early second rounder cause he's a tweener, and he has a garbage jump shot. He shot 27% this season from college 3...And he's not a true PG, so we have a guy who COULD be a solid defender who is too small to be a 2, can't shoot and doesn't have true PG skills. I don't know about that pick...

How many times did you watch him play? A ton of the 3's he took were of the deep end of shot clock variety because the other players on his team could not create there own shot. His jump shot is good.

Here's what was said on the RealGM forum (quoting a couple of other sites):

Quote
Tommy Dee: ESPN analysts suspecting Reggie Jackson has a guarantee? sweet. about 6 hours ago

Our spies have informed us that Celts exec Danny Ainge is so impressed with BC point guard Reggie Jackson that he’s already guaranteed the Celts will take him with the 25th pick in this year’s draft. Ainge personally was on hand for a number of Jackson’s game, and is a tremendous fan. The problem for the C’s is that Jackson’s stock is soaring and the thoughts from scouts everywhere is that he will be long gone by then meaning that Boston will have to trade up to select him.

“Danny’s already guaranteed him,” a source close to Jackson’s camp told TKB. “He saw a ton of games at BC this year.”

I thought he was injured.

Anyway, I don't think he would have pulled out of the combine due to a promise from a GM. A guy with his athleticism and size would improved his stock dramatically by attending that event. He could have shot up the draft board.

Weaknesses: Jump shot is a major weakness ... Shoots from the hip making his shot very slow and methodical ... Shot 27% from downtown last season, and is sitting at 26% this year ... Somewhat of a tweener as he lacks the vision and court awareness of a point guard and the size of a prototypical SG ... May struggle to get it off against NBA competition ... Can be careless with the ball off the dribble ...

Gotta like reggie. What danny is trying to do with this pick is get versitile guys on the bench. He can play both 1 and 2, delonte can play 1 and 2, jeff green can play 3 and 4.

I don't think he would have pulled out of the combine for a promise at 25.  He is the type of player that GMs will fall in love with in workouts.  I think he is going in the top 20.

If we take a guard, I want Marshon Brooks.  Taking Jackson is basically admitting that Ainge screwed up with Bradley.  There's no reason to have both Bradley and Jackson, they're the same type of player.
do it

His stroke improved a ton in his time at BC.  He no longer slings the ball, but he does have a slow release.

I think he would be a good piece of the backcourt he has a great wingspan and is strong.  He will e a capable spot up shooter / and penetrator - but may more apt to finish with floaters than strong at the rim.

We'll see

Not so. Reggie is a natural PG meanwhile Avery appropriate position is the 2.

So because Reggie Jackson is taller than AB he's going to be a better player?
