The Hawks might finally be willing to trade (Josh) Smith. But equally important is that Smith may actually welcome a trade. He needs a fresh start, with a new organization, new teammates and new fans – all some place far away from his hometown.

For as much as Smith is criticized, he is not a bad guy. He’s a good guy. He wants to succeed. He wants to be accepted and appreciated as much as anybody — if not more so, because he’s from Atlanta.

We get on the Hawks for sometimes looking like they just don’t care. That generally isn’t the problem with Smith. It’s more about him going after solutions in the wrong way.

The risk of trading Smith is that he finally turns into that consistent game-changer we’ve envisioned since his rookie season. The downside to not trading him now is if he doesn’t become that soon, his value on the trade market will plummet.

I wonder if the c's could put together a package for Smith without giving up Rondo./

Rondo and Josh Smith played together in high school so I would think Smith wouldn't be against joining the c's( not that he has a say in it, just saying there is that connection)

I think Rondo would bring Smith's game to another level. He is already the player that Jeff Green would ever be at his full potential, but smith can still improve. He is a defensive stud who could take over for KG in the future plus save KG's and PP's legs for the playoffs.

Would a Jeff Green( s+t at a reasonable price) and a few picks get it done?or avery bradley?

Atlanta would be better off packaging Teague and Smith to try and land chris Paul

Probably not happening, but would love to see rondo and josh smith playing together .

I don't see how we could make it happen, but Josh Smith has been someone on my wish list.

Atlanta should trade Smith for a good, young center that they can pair with Horford. Teague is the PG going forward, and they have JJ to provide scoring.

Indiana (Hibbert, and additional considerations) could be a good trade partner, I think.

I'm not sure what kind of value they would want and would be looking for for Josh Smith. My guess would be that they trade him because they don't want to pay him big bucks (they would rather use the money to lock up Horford and Teague).

Would we be able to nab him by trading the Clippers first big Baby and Jeff Green. Would we do that (I say yes because I love Josh Smith).
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't think Jeff Green is an upgrade over Marvin Williams? It's hard to tell. And giving up Rondo for Smith is out of the question for me, unless we can pick someone like Aaron Brooks...

I thought they should have tried to trade Josh Smith for Carmelo Anthony.

Aren't people supposed to speculate on something like Jermaine O'Neal, Ray Allen, the Clippers pick, and the Celtics' 2014 first round pick for Josh Smith, with the idea that Joe Johnson slides over to small forward for the Hawks?  Not saying I would do that trade, just saying that's what I would expect someone to propose.

Maybe even keep big baby for another trade. Jeff Green+ Avery Bradley+ clippers draft pick = Josh Smith. Think they would do this?

How about Green, JO, S+T Baby, and 4 picks( this years first and the 3 Sacromento picks, top 55 protected ::) so basically this years 1st) for Josh Smith and Jason Collins.

They would have a line up of

JO/Zaza/Baby
Horford/Baby
Green/Johnson(with Crawford at 2)/Williams
Johnson/Crawford
Hinrich/Teague

Not to mention the 2 picks. They are very capable of going big or small.

Ours would be

KG/MLE/ Collins
Smith/KG/
Pierce/Smith
Allen/West
Rondo/West/Bradley

Probably won't happen, and I might not want it to happen, but you never know.

if we would be able to trade for Smith, using Baby + JO + Sheed remainder + clipper pick + fodder, that would be awesome.

Just the image of Rondo running the break with Green at SF & Smith as PF brings a smile to my face.

There's your first Tommy Point.  That scenario kind of brings a smile to my face as well.

Atlanta are not trying to get rid of Josh Smith. They are trying to trade him for a superior talent to upgrade their team.

Ergo, the Celtics cannot put together a realistic trade package without putting Rajon Rondo on the table (which should be a deal breaker).

Did you ever see Jeff Green play before he was in Boston? He's DEFENITELY an upgrade over Marvin Williams.
