Chris Paul is a ball hogger?  Huh?  Chris Paul is a better passer then Rondo, commits less turnovers, shoots at a much higher percentage, and does all that as his teams first option.  Paul is significantly better then Rondo and it isn't close.

That said this trade will never happen because the Hawks aren't morons.

From a cap perspective the trade won't fly. Celts are nearly $20m over the cap and would not be allowed to take in a contract higher than the outgoing Rondo and the estimated $1.5m  1st round cap hold. The 2012 draft looks more promising than this year's flock and I would expect them to hold this pick and the Clip's protected #1. They should trade this years' #1.

I think it's a good value for the hawks, smith is on his way out they are pushing him out and he want's out too. But Think that we can recruit a 4th team maybe the twolves or clippers to take marvin williams, that would make the hawks really do it.

This isn't quite right.  Based upon current salary cap rules, the "cap hold" of a future first rounder doesn't factor into the trade at all.  However, you're correct that salaries need to "match", in a sense.  Incoming and outgoing salary needs to be within 125% + $100k.  Because of the disparity between Rondo's and CP3's salaries, we'd have to add more players.  (The least we could send for CP3's 2012 salary is $13,007,844.)

Of course, it's likely that this will all change dramatically in the next CBA.

Yes, maybe I didn't explain it correctly and there isn't a cap hold for next year's #1. Celts would have to package another $9m with RR's contract -- ergo it will take more than RR and a #1 to execute this proposal. RR/Davis (S/T)/2011#1 for CP3/Landry (S/T) is palatable. But NO offense is predicated on screen/rolls, so you have to wonder if they would consider RR because of his lack of a jump shot.

First or second best player? Well you do know that the Hawks have 2 all stars Joe Johnson and Al Horford. I think this is pretty good value for Josh smith

I've seen this said on multiple occasions. Where in the world are people getting the notion that Chris Paul is a ball hog?

Chris Paul is MAYBE the only PG I'd listen to in a trade with Rondo....yes he may not have the assists or steals totals like Rondo, but he is also the primary scorer on NOH.

He HAS to score for NOH to be competitive - even with a healthy David West.

He is one of a kind, like our Rondo..but a little more polished, at least offensively.

I constantly compare the two, because while CP3 is a better shooter, Rondo just made 1st team All NBA Defense.

I shook my head in disbelief after seeing him make Bynum dance just this April:

And he's done this to guards, forwards, you name it. CP3 operated in seemingly a 3-4 foot space to execute that move on a 7 foot shotblocker.

No way Atlanta does this, but I think Boston and NO are on board.  Atlanta wants to ideally move Horford to the 4... and even have been playing Smith at the 3 to help accommodate that.  Acquiring a guy who is a pure 4 in West would completely thwart that.
