Rondo's value is way overrated on this board. Rondo for Gordon is actually a fair trade. I don't know if I would do it, but it is a fair trade value wise.
I don't think I've ever been flabbergasted on a comment involving the Celtics since someone on the ESPN.com forums claimed JR Smith was a better shooter than Ray Allen.
I will give you 20 TPs if you claim that on the Celtics board over at ESPN.com. The hilarity that would ensue would be well worth it.
Heck, post this on ANY Lakers board. Everyone and their mom thinks trading Perk was a bad idea? Tell them we'd trade Rondo for Ben freaking Gordon. AND claim it's fair trade value. I'm trying to hold myself back from falling on the floor laughing.
Fair trade value? Russell Westbrook is fair trade value, to answer your later proposed question. I don't know if I'd do it in a heartbeat, I don't even know if the Thunder would do it, but if you want fair trade value for Rondo, I think Westbrook fits the bill.
But Ben Gordon? I'm also starting to think Rondo raped your GF/held you at gunpoint/sent BBD to eat your dinner. That's all-time hate.
Let me repeat that. ALL-TIME hate.
Yeah, I don't think the Thunder would ever trade Westbrook for Rondo. I don't consider that fair value for the Thunder. Westbrook is a better player, and Westbrook has a necessary job on that team Rondo could never do.
These are some of Ben Gordon's career stats:
PPG: 17
FT%: 86
3pt%: 40
FG% .435
Played more than 80 games in a season 5 out of 7 times.
Ben Gordon is a very, very solid player. You can laugh all you want about the trade, but that doesn't make him any less of a player.
You said you were flabbergasted by me saying this was fair value trade. I'm flabbergasted by people saying Westbrook and Chris Paul for Rondo straight up are fair value trades. That's more absurd than the Ben Gordon idea.
Why just post his scoring stats? Why not post all of his mediocre stats?
PPG: 17
FT%: 86
3pt%: 40
FG% .435
Assists: 2.8
Rebounds: 2.8
Steals: .8
No defensive ability to speak of, and can't even crack the roster on a team going nowhere in Detroit.
On the contrary, there's Rondo:
PPG: 10.7
FT%: .62
3pt%: 24
FG% .486
Assists: 7.6
Rebounds: 4.4
Steals: 2
2x All-Star, 2x 1st Team all Defense, 1x 2nd team all defense. Logs 37mins per game on a playoff team.
I mean really, if Rondo was such a terrible player and a detriment to this team - why is he here and why does he play huge minutes for us? Why was he given a $55m contract extension?
If we offer Detroit Rondo for Gordon, 2 things would happen: 1.) Danny Ainge would be fired, without hesitation then blacklisted from participating in any basketball related activities for the rest of his life. 2.) Detroit's GM would have to name every boy born into his family from here on out Danny Ainge.
