He didn't play a lot of minutes this season but was productive when he played (as we saw firsthand when Memphis came to the Garden and beat us). Even if he only plays 10 minutes a game, he's always been a guy who makes the most out of his minutes, helping us get into the bonus and grabbing boards. Since we're probably going to let almost all of our bench warmers go, we'll have space on the roster. Always have had a soft spot in my heart for the guy, and I'm guessing that his injuries will scare away most teams. Why not bring him back?

Edit: I am not saying that we should bring him back and count on him being our backup 4 for the year. I'm just saying that he would be a great 9th or 10th man, and I'm sure the guys in the locker room would love to have him back.

Danny Ainge love for Tweeners needs to end. Just say no to tweeners Danny Ainge. We need an intervention.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Do we really need another injury prone player, even if he's buried on the end of the bench? We're starting to bring guys in like the Patriots do--past their prime former stars who can barely stay healthy, let alone make the team. We need a more youthful, healthy movement. I don't mean a bunch of rookies or young projects--how about a roster 6 deep with real athletes? Ones that spend more time on their feet on the floor, not on their backs or in suits. Please?

No thanks, Celtics need young athletes that can eat up big minutes in the regular season. They don't need injury prone players that are being signed because of fond memories. Leon Powe is done.

Hmmm, I am surprised people aren't a little more excited about this. We are likely going to let Big Baby go, and, while, we need more than Powe as a 'big' off of our bench, he's a lot better 3rd string guy than anybody else and we know he will bring energy and hustle to the table. I would love to have him back.

He should have been on THIS YEARS team, along with TA and Perk and we might still be watching the C's instead of that miserable excuse for basketball  the HEAT plays

Actually, it would have made sense to bring him in this season.  When Doc would bring in the bench to sub for the starters, there were too many guys that didn't know the system.  At the very least, he couldn't have been any worse than most of the "bigs" off of the bench after the All-Star break.  He might have even helped some of the 2nd team get acclimated to the offense in practice.
We all think we know more than we really do....

He would been a whole lot better than Dropkick Murphy...of course anything above a corpse would have been more useful than Murphy....so if DA is going to fill the ned of the bench fill it with HEART of POWE rather someone barely breathing

I'm very happy for Leon. He seems like a really nice guy who had a hard youth. It's great that he has been able to stick around the league for 4-5 years so far and I hope he ends up on the end of someone's bench. I wouldn't mind if he ends up at the end of the Celtics bench, but again, just because I like the guy. He certainly is not a guy that is going to make your team better. Sorry but after who can remember how many knee operations he is just never going to be more than he is. A nice guy, who's undersized, can't really jump, and a less than average defender.

Leon Powe is not an important member of any team.  We need a new starting 5 and two strong players off the bench...after that we can fill out the rest of the roster...for now we don't have the starting 5 we need and don't have the two very strong bench players....we have a long way to go before we worry about players like Leon Powe.

He still has a ways to go before he is even 8th or 9th man material again.  He just lost so much quickness and explosiveness with the knee injury, and as of this year, it still was not back.  Considering that explosiveness was what really made him a consistently effective NBA player, I just don't see a spot for him.

The only reason I would like to see him back is that he absolutely would bring an attitude that this team was lacking this year, but if he can't get on the floor, I am not sure that matters.

Yeah, why have tweeners when you can have Patrick O'Bryant. He's legit, man.
