Thanks 2short and TP back because I think you've hit it on the head in your reply. Also agreed BASS_THUMPER.
Look, when I heard we traded Perkins, my heart sank. I was really bummed. But...Quis went down and we needed something at the wing. Also, we were probably going to lose Perkins for nothing in the off season if we didn't move him.
Kendrick Perkins - 9 year Vet with major knew surgery, for:
Jeff Green - Athletic young SF
Nenad Krstic: Nice 2nd or 3rd string back up center
Clipper's 1st round pick: 11th -16th, most likely.
**But more now to what 2short said -
The door is closing on the big three and we need to get more athletic, and fast, NOW.
I think we will see that every draft pick Ainge makes and every trade he makes will be one that brings in players who:
1. Can fly up and down the court with Rondo
2. Can build a nice "home", well furnished and ready for Dwight Howard to sit at the head of the Celtic table and start banging with Chicago, Miami, NY, Indiana, OKC and Memphis for titles for the next 7-8 years.
I think that's what a good GM does.
And this is where I'm wondering if Ainge is operating like Red. He got KG by having the courage to trade for Ray first.
If he build attractive enough young team over the enxt two years and Howard perceives that he can put them over the top, does Boston look interesting to him? With Doc Rivers in place?
Or should he go to LA? with Kobe at 34 and Pau at 31? He'll be rebuilding for another 4 years...how is that attractive?
or do you follow in the foo steps of Bill Russell and hang your legacy in Boston?
If you build it, they will come.
