Watching the Bulls last night was a healing experience.  It was awfully nice to see the cHeat get a faceful of Karma.  Normally I would probably tend to root for the team that beat us;  after all, if you are going to go down, it feels better to be beaten by the best.  But the cHeat beat us by deliberately, quite obviously in my opinion (though no one in the media admits it), taking down our best player.  That's no way to win.    So I'm rooting hard for Chicago and the Power of Karma.

I also like Derrick Rose.  Sure, the hype is nauseating, but the guy really is an amazing player, one of those guys who can really put his team on his shoulders.  Would I trade Rondo for him?  No, I wouldn't even consider it.  I think Rondo is a kind of basketball visionary.  Every time he makes a play that no one else would even think of, I remember why I love the game.

Can Rondo be the cornerstone of a championship team?  I think most of us can probably agree that some things need to change for that to happen.    He needs to be more consistent.  He needs to be a better shooter and scorer.  He needs to play more aggressively.  But the thing that Rose does that I most wish Rondo would learn from is the brisk way he brings the ball up and gets into the play.  Rondo typically walks the ball  up, often very casually and slowly, and then stands around for some time, eating up  shot clock and letting the defense set, before he even starts the play.   This, to me, is the single biggest problem with Rondo's game.
