I really think Pierce is gonna be the big 3 member comin off the bench the way their talkin

I wouldn't read too much into how they are talking right now.  I guarantee you they have no idea who, if anyone of the Big 3 will be coming off the bench, and they won't know until they know who is on the roster next year.

Pierce's name comes up the most often, because they have the inside track on signing Green, who is a SF.  However, all of that could change very quickly.

Honestly though, I just don't expect any of the big 3 to be coming off the bench next year.  I think their minutes will be cut (perhaps dramatically), but they will likely all still be starting.

Depends on who else is out there, but I'd take Baby back for whatever money if the deal is for one year. As much as I don't like BBD, he's hard to replace on a one year deal.

No chance Davis is signing for 1 year (OK, maybe a slim chance depending on the new CBA, but I wouldn't count on it).  This may be Davis' best chance to get a long term deal, he is not passing it up.

why in the world would the C's or any team give a 6'8 300lbs stubby armed PF with no lift a long term contract?

They were talking on WEEI about how Baby fired his trainer mid way through this season because he thought he could keep himself in shape and then went on to gain about 15-20lbs by the end of the year .

I wouldn't even think about giving BBD a long term contract

Two words:

DREW GOODEN

The guy was signed lat summer for a mere 6.4M per year for 5 years. Big Guys, albeit short stocky ones, are at a premium and usually get paid.

There's a huge difference between BBD and Drew Gooden, both in size and in playing ability.

I can picture davis pouting over those statements.  Sounds like there was no injury just bad/selfish play.  Davis can be replaced with ease by a true pf vet.  I like pierce off the bench and next year working at keeping the old timers minutes to 30 a game during regular season.  A healthy jermaine, delonte, krstic bench makes all the difference.

I think it's possible that one or more of them don't start. However, what is important in basketball isn't who starts but who finishes. They will always be on the court in crunch time of the 4th quarter.

Doc said he might have KG do 3 5-minute stints per half instead of two 8-minute ones - I think that makes a lot of sense on a lot of different levels. Kevin is a high-energy guy who tires pretty quickly, and this should keep him fresh (and shed a couple minutes a game).

If I had to choose anybody that I think would, I'd have to say Ray.

The only thing is though is that if you are coming off the bench, I feel like you want a guy that can create his own shot.  That guy is Paul.  When Ray was out there with mostly the second unit is when you saw our offense most stagnant and ineffective.

There are some who believe that Ainge intentionally went without better options for a back-up point guard in 2007-2008 in order to force Doc to play Rondo.

If you believe Glen Davis shouldn't play more than 15-20 minutes per game, then perhaps the only way to keep Doc Rivers from playing Big Baby 25-30 mpg is to not have him on the roster.

completely agree, Ray's shooting is needed to spread the floor for Rondo to drive and KG to work in the post .

PP would be instant offense off the bench, especially playing against tired 1st units and 2nd units of opposing team. He would still likely play 35 mins a game and finish games strong, just readjusting how he gets most of his mins and being able to be dominate against other benches

If Hondo can be a 6th man, I don't see any reason why PP can't be or wouldn't want to be if it was going to help the team

Glen Davis could always get a long term deal with the Idaho Stampeders and along with Antione Walker, keep the late night windows at the Boise Wendy's busy.

Tommy was on CSN the other day and was asked this question about Paul Coming off the bench, and he talked about how he had Paul Silas coming of the bench and that people like Pierce and Silas know how big the role of 6th man can be an could embrace it

They don't need to necessarily come off the bench, but do need their minutes cut to keep them fresh for the playoffs. They are still good enough to start, but just can't play them for a long stretch of minutes

I don't see the point in bringing one of the Big Three of the bench.
