BOS/NOH/ORL Trade (legitmate?) (trade idea)

First off: there are numerous threads related to such topics, but, I do believe the scenario I propose would service all teams involved needs.  Furthermore, I am rather reluctant to specualte on a trade involving Rondo, considering: he's good, won a title with the team, a true warrior who will play through pain, and my GF would kill me for mentioning it (I swear she loves Rondo almost a little too much).

That being said, I feel if we got these players we would be right back as one of the elite teams going foward.  A big move like this may just what we need to reinvigorate the Big"old"3, and may be our only hope for getting players of this caliber.

Dwight Howard cures every problem the celtics have downlow, Him being the best rebounder in the league and the best defender

pair him with KG who is probably the second  best low post defender  would make it very hard to drive on the celtics

Chris paul cures every problem they have on the perimeter because Cp3 can shoot the ball, he is a top 3 pg





Celtics would be the favorites to win the championship for the next 5 years at least

Ok, my reasons for the trade are such:

For Boston: Obvious, we'd be legit with 2 superstars in their prime, a HOF Big 3 in their twilight, and 2 role players in their prime (Ariza, Delonte), and we'dd still have our MLE.

For New Orleans:  They're losing Paul anyways, so get they get Rondo & Green and dump the contracts of Okafor, West, and Ariza.

For Orlando:  They need something like this.  They are in a cap nightmare for the next 3-4 years.  They are also in decline as a team.  Okafor and West combined with numerous picks will keep them afloat until they are out of cap prison.  In time they may be able to move some of their contracts, but nobody is taking any of them right now.  Howard can leave for nothing if Orlando isn't careful.

This trade would need to be done after this years draft, before the season starts.  Allen and JO could also be bought out, potentially saving New Orleans more money, and would be almost nessecary for Boston.

Note: Completely depnadant on structure of new CBA

While clicking on this thread I thought "if its a deal where we end up with the 2 best players in the deal, it isn't happening." 

But after taking a look at it, it seems rather feasible.  And its that fact alone that has me excited.  Unlikely, but feasible!  I would specifically buy a $100+ bottle of champagne and pop it that night to celebrate knowing the Celtics would at least be good/very good for years to come.

btw Celticsguy34, according to the trade Ray Allen would no longer be on the team.  I'm totally fine with that too if the trade nets CP3&Howard!

Ray Allen would need to accept a buyout to come back as would (hopefully) JO, in order to save cash thrifty New Orleans even more money (total in excess of 22m) as well as, bolster Boston and satisfy vets who would otherwise retire.

I agree.  We've heard potential packages centered around Andrew Bynum or a combination of Gasol / Odom from LA, or Brook Lopez from NJ.  I don't think we can compete.

I think it was Hollinger who proposed this deal.  I think that one is a little more realistic in terms of what it might take to get Howard, although the Lakers are probably giving up too much.

Yes, Orlando could get better players possibly, but good enought o make a difference.  The East is loaded right now going forward.  Chi/Mia/Bos?/NYK?, if Orlando gets a boarderline elite player they're in trouble.  They'll be good enough to compete for a potential playoff spot, but never a contender.  Nobody is trading a TRUE superstar for Dwight with him set to leave a team with no hope at all.
Bynum, Gasol & Odom, and most other players I have heard rumored are not enough to really compete.  Orlando needs to realize they MUST blow it up and get bad soon.  Having contracts line up to expire while building draft picks is a sound strategy in my opinion.  In that regard, New Orleans might have to throw a pick or two to Orlando.

As others have said, I think CP3 is a possibility, but we can't really approach an offer for Dwight Howard.

I think we'd have a better chance of trading for CP3 and Okafor and competing that way.

I believe, if the trade is a draft day agreement, consumated afterwards, you are then allowed to trade your upcoming 1st pick.

Edit:  The Celtics did this to get Allen and Garnett.  They just traded the 1st's to different teams in seperate trades.

Wasn't good for the Celtics because their 1st round draft pick was traded to Cleveland for Potapenko. They could have taken Shawn Marion, Andre Miller or gasp.......James Posey!

I know this is an idea that a lot of people are talking about, but Danny has already said he doesn't want to trade Rondo. I believe him, and agree with him... Rondo and Paul are both elite point guards, it just seems silly to trade one for the other (even if one is a better shooter).

I would love for us to keep Rondo and get Dwight, but I think Orlando is going to want more than draft picks...
