The problem is Hamilton's contract; he's owed $12.5 million next year, and at least $9 million the year after. That's a pretty bad contract, especially since the team seemingly wants cap space in 2012.
Yeah, I agree, Hamilton's contract is a no-go. He also does not bring the young legs this team will likely be looking for, particularly if they are going to be breaking the bank.
If Detroit really were still interested in Davis (which I am skeptical about) I would be much more interested in someone like Gordon (who I think is underrated right now, and will thrive playing next to a real PG again), or maybe Maxiell (basically what a lot of us want Davis to be).
Both of them would be on the books in 2012, but they are at least guys who I could see being decent pieces to have on the team going forward, and guys who could play well with Rondo.
