Funny because last night this was precisely what I was thinking, especially if OKC loses today.

The only problem I can see is the salaries. CP3 makes like $15M, Rondo $10M and Westbrook $5M. The C's can make it work for CP3, but bringing in OKC would require them to add on contracts that they really don't have.

If Harden started and played well they might have a chance but they would have no bench scoring. I don't think this is a team Rondo would fit well on. They could be an exciting defensive team but they would be too one dimensional on offense in the playoffs imo.

Maybe Presti wants Rondo and to make a proposed trade possible you have to include the hornets ?
And the fact that Rondo has 4 years left of his contract starting at 10 million is better for him than getting chris paul who is a different ball player than Rondo and with no extension and no guarantees, a small market team like OKC wouldn't risk having a guy like that on their team, but for Boston chris paul would possibly sign an extension.

I am personally not a chris paul fan tbh, just posted this from another member on another board and only because this trade is interesting for all the teams involved.

Even Presti's not going to move his second scoring threat for a moody point who is never going to be a consistent scoring threat, comparisons to Scottie Pippen nothwithstanding.

 

OKC isn't going to have an iota of interest in Rondo. Nor should they.

Too one-dimensional? They're already the most one-dimensional offensive team in the league right now. Rondo would add so much more creativity and unpredictability to their offense. I'd be against this trade though.

  One would assume that the Thunder will have at least a slightly different roster next year. They could add scoring off the bench. But Who was right, they'd probably prefer CP3.

  By the way, when Westbrook takes 20 shots or less in the playoffs the Thunder are 5-0. When he takes more than 20 shots the Thunder are 2-4. He's averaging 27 a game in their losses and 21 in their wins (19 in their wins if you don't count the extra points from the triple overtime win). People are enthralled with scoring, other things matter as well (like 6.4 assists and 4.5 turnovers a game from your point guard).

how quickly people forget!  What did Lebron James say after the Celtics eliminated the Cavs a year ago in the playoffs:  he said they had no answer for Rondo.  In other words no way to deal with Rondo, to contain Rondo, to stop Rondo from doing what Rondo does, from being Rondo-like, etc, etc....they couldn't stop Rondo from controlling the series and dominating them.

Rondo would do wonderfully in Ok. City, starting alongside Harden, Durant, Ibaka and Perk.  I do think the Sonics wouldn't mind taking Ray along with him as a bench scorer who can also finish the game over Harden depending on need/who's hotter....or starting Rondo, Ray and Durant and continuing Harden off the bench.  

I don't think I'd want Westbrook on the Celtics.  They'd have to send him off, maybe to the Clippers, and give us Deandre Jordan and lots of other stuff.....

finally, if Durant saw Triple team as someone suggested, Rondo or Harden would gladly take it to the hoop...Ibaka would gladly slam it....(people seem to confuse a lesser jumper of zero offense, as if layups didn't exist)

Because who else would OKC give up to make it work? They simply can't afford to get him, unless they are willing to give up more of their important pieces (think Harden or Ibaka) to make it work.

CP3 is better than Rondo, but not that much better. And he is significantly cheaper.

And I hear their center knows Rondo.

Westbrook is killing Durant and the team needs a facilitator to get Ibaka and Perk involved offensively.

Rondo+Perk= best friends. This would work perfectly for OKC and they'd do it in a heartbeat.
Westbrook would be shopped if his contract wasn't so good for OKC, and the longevity of Rondos contract would appeal to them immensely.
Rondo would flourish as a leader with perk on that ultra young team.
Think about how good Rondo+Ibaka would go with alley oops and lobs and easy buckets under the rim.

Rondo made a 38 year old Shaq look way better than he really was- imagine the potential they'd have.

Personally I'd rather keep Rondo for the Long haul- I love the kid and his defense.

While I agree Ok. City would do really well with Rondo at the helm, I think the Clippers would be even happier to have him:  Rondo, Gordon, Jeff Green, B. Griffin, Kaman......excellent defensively, at least in the backcourt.....good passing (Rondo and Green) on a team with B. Griffin and E. Gordon, even Kaman, should mean a lot of offense.  Rondo should get to the hoop a lot too with that lineup...
