I may have to reconsider my last comment about which era of Lakers were most dominant...Prime Shaq and Kobe were certainly monstrous, indeed.

I don't think that any center ever had the size, athleticism and skill of Shaquille O'Neal...Kareem had the skill and athleticism..but not the mass...Hakeem had maybe the best overall game ever - but again - not the size. Bill Russell had the skill and athleticism, but just not the girth.

Wilt was maybe the closest to Shaq in this category, IMO.

Shaq's only knock was the free throws, and even the The Big Shamrock always seemed to make them when it counted.

Even beyond that Shaq frequently missed free throws in clutch situations at roughly the same rate as his career percentage.

Shaq and Kobe dominated in a weak era.  I think the 80s Lakers dominated when the NBA was still pretty good (although the West was certainly a lot weaker than the East).
