DRAFT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Philadelphia 76ers, do to a rules violation, is forfeiting their 8th and 9th round picks of Andrei Kirilenko and Vin Baker.

The 76ers are still allowed to make their 10th and 11th round picks as well as their 12th and 13th round picks, however, Baker and Kirilenko, are not available to them to select at any time during the draft.

Vin Baker and Andrei Kirilenko are available to be drafted by any other team that wants them during the last two rounds of the draft. If after the draft, no other team draft said players, the Philadelphia 76ers may re-draft them if they care to or draft any other 2 players they wish.

What happened here?

Did this team tamper with the players before the draft?

How does a team lose two draft picks in a entertainment draft?

Take fantasy drugs?

Complain to the fantasy media about the fantasy officials?

Seems like a great way to take a team out of the fun competition.

Totally missed that one too.(Probably b/c of my beach volleyball and barhopping exploits last night)  What the heck?

I thought this was supposed to be more relaxed than the CB Draft?

I am very dissapointed that there is dram in a CB draft and I am not involved

You still have time.   ;)

I will just re-read some of the old CB Draft threads and get my fix
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Wow -- Rajon Rondo, Latrell Sprewell and Eddie Jones -- that is a huge amount of quickness and activity defensively. Dangerous passing lanes when those guys are around.
Also dangerous to be their Coach, but that's mostly on Spree.

Though Rondo is difficult to coach at times, I wonder what would happen if Spree took him under his wing instead of KG?  :P

C'mon now...none of that, please ;D.

NickAgneta clearly stated a couple of days ago that we need not go down the rabbit hole with player's pasts, right?

I mean...Nick has Dennis...I have Latrell....I may be picking up yet another wild child here as soon as mgent picks, too.

I think every player here has warts, whether they are physical shortcomings or otherwise ;D

And didn't someone pick 2000' Paul Pierce?

Saw that too - and was Shocked to say the least.

The Climate of this draft from last year to this has certainly changed, IMO.

I'm not sure of the particulars behind what happened, so I cannot comment there.

But this was shocking to me.

I know that Bahku doesn't want to disrupt the draft, so he's bitten his tongue on this.  I know that I wasn't a fan of the discipline -- this was supposedly going to be a relaxed and "just for fun" atmosphere -- but I'm going to respect Bahku's wishes until we're doing our "exit interviews" regarding what could be done better in the future.

I will say, though, that it's a shame that at least one GM (who happens to be the Commish) has become a bit too over-competitive in this draft.  I would think that we could use a little bit of common sense, rather than fairly draconian punishment for minor rule infractions.  The way this draft has been handled a couple different times has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.  I especially didn't like the rules about people bouncing ideas off of panelists, because of "competitive imbalance" and "unfair advantage".  It just seemed to run counter to what the stated goals of this exercise are.

At the same time, being a Commissioner in one of these things isn't an easy job.  I just wish a bit of discretion could have been used in this case.  And that's all I have to say about that.   :P

I hope no other GM makes the same unknown mistake.  I hate to see another team lose multiple draft picks because there is an unknown rule out there that can get you.

Yeah...I know for me at least I've always had problems separating the "jokes" from the "sarcasm" on here...it is difficult for me to discern that at times.

I just don't do internet humor well - at all.

But yeah overall I've loved the game and the commentary. I've admittedly been wound a little tighter than normal at times, but I certainly hope this draft continues next year, too.

Nick has had a tough job here so I can't knock on him too bad.

As far as the competitiveness factor - that's why I suggested my desire to "Sim" these rosters, somehow - I know some of us here aren't video game players, but Man I'd love to see how this would play out in the software world.

I wouldn't know how to do it, but I bet the tech exists out there to do so.

I purposely did not draft Vin Baker or AK47.  I figure Bahku can just take them at the end, since I have no idea why he was penalized and didn't see any glaring issues.

whatifsports can do it, though you would have to take out a player since it only has 12 roster spots.

and if anyone does sign up at whatifsports, tell them moranis sent you.  thanks.

It's because none of us want to have to help pay Kemp's child-support like you agreed to when you signed him.

Slightly off-topic here - but isn't Dirk Nowitski just an amazing player?

He is Larry Bird Lite.

He is humble, but a pure assassin. He is the kind of player that will smile and hug you after the game after dropping 50 pts on you.

C'mon Dirk!

Three.

More.

Games.

Please!!

I do not want a Summer of Heat.

He said "Kids." I figured "Oh, 2-3. No Big Deal, we can swing that" next thing I know I'm Mother f'n Hubbard, and this teams about 85 billion dollars in debt.

Yeah, the not being a cocky assassin-- and the lack of passing ability-- is what kept him from being Bird.
