I wanted to come up with a reasonable wish list for players for the Celtics to target this offseason. My focus is to target reasonable players who would accomplish our goals of becoming more talented and athletic.

Players to target (in no particular oder)
OJ Mayo
JR Smith
Andray Blatche
Anthony Randolph
Josh Smith
Dorell Wright
Ekpe Udoh
Terrence Williams
Nicholas Batum
Rudy Fernandez
Greg Oden (Yes I want Oden)
Andris Biedrins
Marcin Gortat
Thabeet (why not? could prob get him for Wafer haha)
DeAndre Jordan

Just a start. I'm sure I'll think of more. I'm also thinking small time right now. Haven't really gotten to the point of thinking of marquee guys to get for any of our Big 4 since I don't think we're going to go in that direction quite yet.

I think Ainge should gamble and try to find a few athletic D-Leaguers with little or no NBA experience to fill out the bench.

He just renewed a coach who would never play them.

I'd love nothing more than to land DeAndre Jordan, but I think he's going to make A LOT of money.

Who can offer him the money?

Sacramento already has Cousins locked up. Would they really go after Jordan too?

Indiana has Hibbert.

Who else will have the cap room and the need for a 5? Denver, if they lose Nene, maybe?

I'm thinking someone taller like Sean Williams (runner-up to Chris Johnson in voting for D-League Defensive Player of the Year) or Courtney Sims.

I am also a GS Warriors fan. Please no Anthony Randolph. If a non playoff team doesn't play a player with a lot of talent, why should a perennial playoff team want him? The Knicks traded him away, too, after getting him for the David Lee S & T.

What if that non-playoff team is incompetently run and doesn't give the best talent the most minutes?  Not that I necessarily want Anthony Randolph, but you might want a bad team's cast-offs and underused players if you think that team is bad at evaluating talent.

I am a big fan of Anthony Randolph and think he has great potential ... but I fully agree that Boston should not pursue him.

A.Randolph is more than a year away from being a consistent positive contributor and simply isn't ready to play on a title contender.

He makes too many mistakes on both sides of the ball. Too inefficient, too many turnovers, weak jumper, horrible shot selection, doesn't play to his strengths often enough. Too many problems.

A team that isn't playing for a title should acquire him and patiently develop him. In a year or two, they'll have something very good on their hands. It'll be worth living through all the mistakes.

However, he's no good to a title contender. Not today. Not next season.
