Imo, the only people who undervalue Rondo is his own fanbase.

Agree completely...personally I think people outside of Boston and the national media give Rondo credit more than most Celtics fans do.
I don't know if this is true or not but if it is, then it is time to trade Rondo and get the most possible value back for him.

I suspect that most of the other 29 GM's are smarter than the "national media" and have Rondo's value pegged more neutrally.  I saw find the GM who is the exception and is buying into the national media hype and that is who we want to trade with.

Again, find any evidence that GMs have a lowish opinion of Rondo.

Well this past year 29 other GM's seemed to rank him pretty high in terms of his defensive ability...he was ranked 3rd among all players as the best perimeter defender in the NBA, 1st among all players as the best on the ball defender in the NBA, and was also voted 1st among all players as the best defender in the passing lanes.

Seems like their opinion of Rondo is pretty good to me...

If this team needs a boost in the athleticism department, trading Rondo is probably not a good way to accomplish that.

The only realistic trade-able player on the 2011-2012 roster is Rondo.

I disagree. I think that Ray Allen, for example, is highly tradeable.  He has a $10 million expiring contract.  He could actually help out a young team, like say the Philadelphia 76ers, that feels like it's on the verge of being a contender.  Then, they could always sign him for the next year on the cheap if they felt like he had another year in him.

Is there any starting point guard in the league that shoots free throws and 3point fga worse than Rondo?

How are his assist numbers impressive at all when he makes every entry pass. Is it hard to believe any NBA level point guard who handles the ball as much as Rondo could average 10 assists. He dominates the ball

Rondo is overrated.

Chris Duhon had a worse free throw percentage and Andre Miller had a worse 3 point percentage.

Rondo is overrated.

Rondo doesn't dominate the ball. KG handles it, Paul handles it and Ray does on occasion. Those three combined to average more assists (8.4 a game) than - wait for it - the 2-3-4 players on the teams of any of the top 10 point guards in assists per game. Most of them were under 6. The Celts as a team overpass the ball while the players on other teams are more likely to shoot the ball when they get it from their point guard.

Do you *really* think that Rondo dominates the ball more than Westbrook, CP3, Deron, Nash or the like? I can see why you'd think Rondo's overrated, but your claims that diminish his accomplishments generally don't hold up.

Trading Rondo will be the end of the Boston Celtics.

sounds like a deal Danny Ainge would be interested in.

OKC's offense is better with Westbrook on the bench than in the game.

Who's JP3?  Thanks for that thoughtful addition to this thread, though.
