Listening to him on WEEI right now, and he says the expectations for Jeff Green were too high. I am really sick of this guy and his BS. He thinks we are all stupid.

Danny Ainge sucks.

...his 2011 shipment of fail arrived last night.

EDIT: He had said we could blame him if we lose...so, yeah, I'm picking up that option.

Interesting. He has said several times "If" Jeff Green is back next year, and he also has mentioned the possibility of Pierce coming off the bench. Then quickly said that was a hypothetical.

Also said he thinks Shaq will retire and he does not know if JO will be back. Darn, the Celtics need a center.

The thing is, no matter what Danny says, there will be a large number of people who agree with him, simply because he brought us a title.

I liked Danny as a player, and I like him as a GM.  He's not infallible, though; since the summer of 2008, he's made plenty of mistakes.

I agree Roy, but stuff like "expectations were too high" for Jeff Green really bug me. Danny was the guy pumping up Jeff Green when the Celts got him.

He said people have a legitimate right to point to the trade as a factor in not winning the championship, and said he takes the blame for that. Give him props for that. However, he said he would do the trade again.

Also just admitted he blew it with Tony Allen and should have fought harder to bring him back. Tony could have helped us this year, he said.

  • Rondo = Good
I tend to agree with him, I think the expectations for Jeff Green were too high.

The guy went from playing over 35 minutes a night to playing 10-20 at most, and people still expected him to be able to score 15 points off the bench every night.  Even in the playoffs, in games where he hit some nice shots and played some decent 1 on 1 defense, people were quick to jump on him for every mistake.  Any time one of the Big 3 sent a difficult pass his way that he fumbled, people immediately blamed Jeff, saying he's terrible.

I don't think Jeff will ever be a star, but he has all of the tools to be a very solid rotation player, even a starter someday.  He just needs time to adjust, and I think, all things considered, he did a pretty good job for us this year.

I'll be extremely disappointed in Danny if he just lets Jeff go, though.  The trade really would have been a major waste if all we got out of it is that Clippers pick and a rental of Jeff Green and Krstic for a few months.

No idea what he could be thinking with Pierce coming off the bench, though.  Jeff starting and Pierce off the bench would seem silly.  I don't know what SF he could possible trade for that would require Pierce off the bench, either.

Basically just said Tony provided toughness that Jeff Green does not provide

Hard to disagree there.

Unreal. He just said if Avery Bradley was in the draft this year he would be a top 5 pick. Man is he a BS artist.

Pumping him for what? Yes, Green is a very good player. Yes, Green can defend multiple positions effectively.

The fans appeared to expect the second coming of Paul Pierce, which wasn't happening.

He's not infallible, but he has done a [dang] good job.

KG goes down in 09...no chance for a title, but we had 62 wins and there's a strong chance we win that title if KG does not go down.

We make it to the Finals in 10. Up 12 in the 3rd quarter in game 7. That is a team good enough to win a title.

This year, Rondo goes down and has clouded how good this team really was.

Tough to shore up the roster with vet mins. and low draft picks, but I think the Jermaine and Rasheed signings for the MLE were great.

I don't know about top 5, but this isn't that ridiculous a comment - it's not like he really has to defend that selection. This is supposed to be one of the worse drafts in recent memory, Bradley was one of the best recruits coming out of high school - without actually hearing what he's saying, I'm guessing he's just pointing out that he would have expected a huge sophomore season from Bradley and that would be enough to get him high in the lottery.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka
