Dwayne Wade is going off for 23 in the first half last night. We shut him down, we're probably up 10-15 at half.

So I'm watching the game and I'm saying Ray "cannot" stay in front of this guy AND we need Ray's legs on offense to hit threes. How can we expect Ray, at 35, to run through screens and chase Wade on D, then come down and get on his treadmill on O? It won't work... If Doc stays with Ray on Wade, we're toast.

Meanwhile, Rondo's out there with one arm. So I said to myself, why not put Pierce on Wade, see if his length and muscle bothers him? Put Green on LeBron, as he started doing a better job on him as the series wore on. Pierce had three fouls but if he's in the game, he's going to be guarding Wade or LeBron...what's the difference?

So my move would have been:

Krstic or Jermaine
KG
Green on LeBron
Pierce on Wade
Ray or Delonte at point.

But yet, though Wade was tearing us a new one all series, I never once saw Pierce on him? Why not try it for a few minutes and see what happens. Load Green up on minutes at small forward if necessary.

Pierce is a bit slower, but he's crafty as heck and he's pretty long - I think he could have figured it out and slowed him down - then also have posted him up on the other end...

For that matter why not try Pavlovic on Wade, with Pierce at SF and Ray or DWest at point? But my main question if why not Pierce on Wade? Why not "try it". What we were doing certainly wasn't working so what's it matter?

What is wrong with this thinking - this rotation...what am I missing?

We dont have anyone on our team that would have been able to stop Wade. Ray really wasnt doing all that bad of a job. Wade made some tough tough shots and most of his points going to the basket came off splitting pick and rolls... One of the celtics biggest weaknesses for the past 10 years has been defending the pick and roll, its terrible.
