The Lakers have been rumored to be in the hunt for Howard and will likely use Bynum as a trade chip. However, wouldn't we be able to entice Otis Smith more by offering Rondo in a package? I'm sure the Magic would rather trade Howard to the Western conference, but the Lakers, besides Bynum, don't have many attractive pieces. Gasol has a huge contract that not many teams will want to touch after his poor playoff performance. Especially, the Magic who already are committed long term to Arenas, Turkoglu, and Redick. Not exactly the best players to have a lot money and years owed to. Not to mention the big injury risk that is Bynum. Plus, I don't think he did his trade value any favors with the JJ Barea cheap shot.

On to the trade:

Celtics Receive:

Howard
Nelson (becomes expendable in Orlando with Rondo)

Magic Receive:

Rondo
Green (S & T)
JO (Expring Contract/Trade Filler)
Bradley
Multiple 1st Rd Draft Picks

If you're Otis Smith, is this fair compensation? Is it along the same lines of what was received for Anthony and Williams?

Anthony Trade:

The Knicks received Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Anthony Carter, Renaldo Balkman and Shelden Williams from Denver.

Denver received Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton , Timofey Mozgov, and a 1st rd pick.

Williams Trade:

Nets received Deron Williams.

Jazz received Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, 2 First Round Draft Picks, and Cash.

We would have to get Chris Paul in the off-season then cause Jameer just isn't that good.

Orlando can get more for Howard. They're going to want a quality Center in return, J.O. doesn't cut it.

Contrary to what you think, Bynums cheap shop didnt effect his trade value whatsoever. He's in his early 20's and has time to grow and mature. Guy has Hall Of Fame potential, i can't imagaine any team NOT wanting him

I think he's pretty good. His contract is favorable, around 7.5M over the next 2 yrs., slightly above MLE money. He also can hit the open shot, which is important since the offense will probably run inside/out through Howard. He also has good chemistry with West having played with him effectively at St. Joe's.

If the Celtics are able to get Paul for Rondo, Howard's price tag could go down if he forces Orlando's hand (like Melo did) so he can play with Paul.

Bynum is a huge injury risk too. The last 4 seasons he has played in only 35, 50, 65, and 54 games.

JO is a cap filler. He can easily be bought out.

We still would have a lot of expiring deals after the 2012 season. We would only have Pierce, Howard, and Nelson under contract. In order to offer Paul max money, under the current rules, we could trade Nelson to a team with cap room like the Heat did when they traded Beasley to the Wolves for a second rd pick.

I think you use Rondo to get Paul.  Without Paul or Rondo on the team why would Dwight stay.

But with that said I would do this deal.

I would love if we had Dwight, but trading Rondo doesn't quite feel right to me. I think half of what would be great about having Dwight on the team would be having Dwight play with Rondo.

Chris Paul has been brought up as well, but I think that would just be shuffling way too many cards to get both Dwight AND Paul.

We might as well just stick with Rondo and trade a few other players in order to get Dwight.

I really don't want to have to trade Rondo, basically.  :-\

either we keep Rondo or use him for CP3, no way Dwight comes here if the pg sucks. Admit it, Dwight wants to shine and win.

I can see him pull a Shaq in Orlando though

I'm betting they are too stubborn to to give him up.  And he walks.  Announcing they want to keep that coach with no game plan and a ton of mistakes ??? :o ....I WANT out if I'm D12..LET ME OUTTA HERE !!!!!

Doc is good coach for D12. Easy going, owner is easy going

Your right , HAVE TO HAVE at least RONDO or CP3 or ELLIS. for him to consider.

I think PP can wind up staying, and maybe other who want a lesser role... like JO and RA

Magic Johnson has got his BOY"S already GAsol and AB and its killing him. They are signed on .  And all the GOOD coachs are taken.... Aldelman ...YUKK!!!  Let them have him .

Come on Danny ...WORK us a MIRACLE

To trade Rondo for Nelson is like to trade Wade for Carter Vince

JO would retire.
Not to mention, Danny already said he isn't trading Rondo.
Only way we get Howard is if Orlando enters a complete rebuilding phase.

Plus giving away Green ruins any possibility of having success down the line with the big 3 out.

An offense with Rondo and Dwight wouldnt work....both 1 dimmensional players.

I truly believe any team trading for Howard is also taking on Arenas.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
