If they could somehow trade Green and Kristic for Big Al - I would be a million percent in favor. (More realistic might be retiring JO and Green.) The question becomes do they have a shot at Dwight Howard as a FA? (if so they probably wait out the year and try and sign him.)

Jefferson, KG, Pierce, Allen, Rondo is basically an unstoppable starting offense (assuming no decline in Pierce and KG). West and JO would be valuable bench guys. They'd need a backup PF (or they keep Baby) and they'd need a wing (Battier is a FA as is Grant Hill, but he's also 40, but played well this year.)

You know when the announcers are screaming for KG to get in the post, that's what Al Jefferson does - all the time.

I dont know if the Celtics have the pieces/salaries to get him, but he'd be a great fit here.  He does a lot of things which we need.  Yes his defense is suspect, but he scores inside, rebounds will block a couple shots.  All things we could have used this season.
do it

As for his defense - would he be worse than BBD? Worse than Kristic? Both of those guys have limitations on D and don't rebound.

How about Rondo, JO and pieces for AlJeff and Devin Harris?

Or Rondo,RAllen + cash to buy out Ray + either Bradley or the Clips pick next year for AlJeff and Harris?

We do not have the pieces necessary to land Al Jefferson without a third team and without giving up one of the "big" 4.  Ten teams could and would easily trump any offer we have without one of those 4.

Something like this, I think may be possible.

Boston acquires Al Jefferson (14), Mehmet Okur(10.8)
Utah acquires Brandon Roy (14.9), Greg Oden (8 to 10 first year of 3 yr deal)
Portland acquires Kevin Garnett (21.2), Avery Bradley (1.5), Bos #1
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Al still can't defend a chair.

Mildly interested, but not at the cost of a major asset.

Not interested. Every team Al has been on has either been A) God Awful or b) by the end of the year turned god awful.

If you like how Shaq made our offense look you'd *really* like how Al would make it look. Not that we're getting him, but still...

shaq did a great job off passing out of the post and to cutters
al doesn 't pass and doesn't defend
sadly his game has not improved since he came into the nba

If you can add Al for JO and basically nothing else, you'd have to try.

On the flipside, Rondo for Harris and Favors would be intriguing as well.

Definitely think Al should be a target for us. He is going into his 2nd year post the ACL injury and he is entering the prime years of his career. He averaged 21/11 post all star break, but just as important is 2.5 assists which shows that he is maturing offensively.

Not sure how Utah views him with Millsap, Favors and Okur. They also have 2 lottery picks and might go with a big with one of those which would make it even more crowded in the frontcourt. Also think it's almost impossible to do a sign + trade with Green as there are too many variables there. Maybe something like Ray, O'Neal (if he retires), Clippers 1st rounder for Al and Bell.

Testify. Like him more as a sixth man than anything else. But he's paid so much more than that.

I would be very intrigued if we could get Big AL for some combo involving Green and not Rondo.  Also, would depend on what the new CBA looks like.  It wouldn't be worth putting too much risk at losing our cap space going into 2012.

Now, if in the new CBA,the cap is high enough to fit the contracts of: Rondo, Pierce, and Jefferson, while still allowing room for a guy like Howard, that, would be worth it.

He's got some post-up skills we don't have. Absolutely HATE his lack of effort on the other end.

But if you brought him in, he'd be a bone to the Perkins mancrush crowd, the people who pine for every single member of the 58-loss 2006 mess.

Oh yeah, that's pure nostalgia. Jefferson isn't that good, save for his post game. When you figure in his salary, it's a non-starter.
