After Harangody was traded, Davis assumed the title of My Least Favorite Celtic. Nothing personal against Harangody, I just don't think he's got the physical skills to play in the NBA.

I think Davis does have the potential for developing NBA skills, but the way he using them now - there is nothing I like about his game.

Nothing. Good bye, sir!

I have been worried about Glen Davis' weight and work ethic for a while now.  If he truly wants to remain in the NBA, and especially if he wants to improve his game, he absolutely has to do what ever it takes to get into better shape.

Robert (Tractor) Traylor passed away yesterday at age 34 from an apparent heart attack.  He was 6"8' and  300 lbs.  college star and draft lottery pick  who never really lived up to expectations or fulfilled his potential.  Some said he was the best little big man since Charles Barkley.

I see a lot of similarities between "Tractor Traylor" and Glen Davis, and it is scary.  IMO, anyone who thinks Glen's weight is ok is deluding himself.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.

I haven't been a huge fan of Davis but I'd be ok if they brought him or Krstic back because I'd like someone on the team that could play a lot of minutes in case of injuries or to rest people (I'm talking about the regular season).
Yep. His value is as a minutes eater during the regular season. Like a 5th pitcher in baseball who can throw 200 innings every year, even with a high ERA they are valuable, because they keep the bullpen and other starters fresh. But just like that fifth starter, the team needs to be able reduce the rotation in the playoffs and marginalize his role against better competition with more on the line. The Celtics couldn't do that against the Heat - not without a healthy Shaq and without Green playing the way was hoped he could.

That said - I think his time in BOS should come to an end. For his own growth and for the organization parting ways makes sense. However just like after his first contract, I could see teams being not so interested and the Celtics getting him back on the cheap.

While I hope Baby is somewhere else next year, don't count on it.

His stock dropped SO dramatically over the last 4 months that NO ONE will want him.

He will come crawling back to us for a one year, bargain-basement contract. As a 9th or 10th or 11th man, he won't be as much a liability, and who knows, maybe he will learn how to play within his limitations. When the "lights are on", he has often played well, from the big stage at LSU to some clutch moments with us.

That being said, I stll want him gone because Doc might keep playing him as our 6th man as opposed to our 10th man.

Edit: Brendan, +1 for your last paragraph...was typing when you were posting

There you go. Baby, a somewhat adequate Tim Wakefield.

If Danny re-signs BBD I think I am going to cancel my league pass. The guy is just not that good unless he is in perfect shape. He has returned to fat BBD and his game shows it. How many charges has he taken in the last few months?! He used to be a guaranteed 1-2 per game. He can’t execute the hustle plays when he is a step slower due to that extra 30-40 lbs he has on him. Let him go, please!!

He was very good in the first half of the season. Then he got hurt and played through it. If we can bring him back for small money. Would you rather have him or a vet min player being our back up big. I know he played like hot garbage in the second half of the year but since the difference between halfs of the season was so drastic, I have to believe he was hurt.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would rather ANY nba player then Glen Davis.  I would rather a vet min player yes!  I would rather Jeff Green play all the PF minutes.  I would rather Carlos Arroyo play Glen Davis minutes.  ANYONE!!!!

Maybe the Clippers will be dumb enough to trade us Blake Griffen for Glen Davis in a sign and trade  ;D

Well if he wants a starters contract, go play with Antione Walker for the Idaho Stampede.

Glen tried to do to much out there and cost the team in the My Hammy series. Doc wisely turned to Nenad Krstic last night and limited Big Baby and lo and behold we got a lead at half time on the road. Aside from drawing a charge on Dwade, and scoring a couple of baskets, he gave us nothing.

The Glen Davis era is over in Boston. His best moment was when he beat Lamar Odom like a drum in the 4th Q of Game 4 of the NBA finals last season (when Phil Jackson gave Doc Rivers a gold star for riding the bench for so long into the 4th Q).

I was being funny about the Glen Davis for Blake Griffen idea. Now how about Glen Davis for Al Jefferson - a guy with real low post skillz.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

This seems a bit over the top, but I generally agree.

The net sum of Davis' 1st half + 2nd half of the season = Bad.  So really, he wasn't that good in the 1st half.

And we have no concrete information that he was injured.  What we do know though is that he gained weight.  Therefore, that's the only thing we can pin down with certainty as the reason for his struggles.

I'm sorry, if I can easily stay in better shape & eat healthier while working 55 hours a week, then Glen Davis has NO EXCUSE.  He has all day to get in shape, can sleep 8+ hours if he wanted to, and can even afford a full-time personal chef.

Heres my opinion of Glen davis' future.

He wants money, and a starting role. Celtics don't want to give him money, nor a starting role.

That equation equals ZERO percent of his coming back. But he will not be a player we should BOO when he comes to Boston, plain and simple he was great for this town and team even though he did stink at the second half of the season....and what happened last year was somewhat true, but they were 4 minutes away from winning the championship and the starters lost it. If your telling me 6 months ago, early in the season, effects execution at the end of the game, thats wrong.
