And I mean realistic so obviously not just Rondo, Wade, Melo, Durant, etc lineup. Also this post is not me giving up on the celtics for this year cause I still believe in them, if they can somehow pull out a win in game 5 I think they can pull it off.

But anyways, this is my dream team for 2012-2013 season, idk if it's completely possible so feel free to point out if it can't be done. Ok here it is:

PG: Rondo (over the past couple seasons he has really transformed into my favorite player, KG had that spot ever since I started watching basketball over 6 years ago, but I love Rondo's game and attittude and would cry if he got traded)

SG: OJ Mayo (young athletic player that I think would fit well with Rajon)

SF: Jeff Green (I think he'll get better and better every year)

PF: Insert young lanky defensive minded PF here!(Ibaka is my dream butI know that's impossible so I'm hoping we get lucky with some low draft pick)

C: This is the most important part. Dwight Howard.

Bench: Finely tuned Avery Bradley. THE BIG 3 with KG and Ray resigned for VET min! This would be amazing because I really don't want to let them go, they made me love the celtics and created such a brotherhood. Also, KG would be a great mentor for that young PF i mentioned, and Ray and Pierce would obviously still be able to contribute HUGe minutes off the bench. And if all that happened, I wouldn't even care if we had a 41 year old Shaq as Dwights backup :)

PG: Chris Paul

SG: Ray Allen

SF: Paul Pierce

PF: Kevin Garnett

C: Dwight Howard

The "Rebuilding Version."

PG: Chirs Paul

SG: Eric Gordon or Rudy Fernandez

SF: Paul Pierce

PF: A cheap power forward who's a free agent in 2012. (Anthony Randolph maybe).

C: Dwight Howard

Rondo, West, Pierce, Jeff Green, Dwight Howard

Ray Allen, KG coming off the bench.

But money wise that could get screwed if people get greedy.

  • Rondo = Good
The dream scenario is Chris Paul + Paul Pierce + Dwight Howard and whoever else . . . doesn't really matter who else.

Barring that, ideal rebuilding scenario is nobody currently on the roster except perhaps Paul Pierce.  Everybody else retires, signs with other teams in the off-season, or gets traded for picks, prospects, and cap filler -- including Rondo.  Watch the team sink like a brick for a year or two and try to get lucky in the draft.

Most likely scenario is Rondo, West, Pierce and a hodge-podge of free agent signings, plus Avery Bradley and whoever we draft this year and next.  A team that wins 30-45 games and perhaps barely makes the playoffs.  Welcome to mid-level mediocrity for the next 2-3 years until Pierce retires and Rondo declines / demands a trade, then the team finally hits bottom and starts to work their way up again.

Unless Danny pulls off a miracle acquiring Chris Paul or Dwight Howard, or the Celtics get incredibly lucky drafting the next superstar late in the lottery, my guess is the next time they'll be legitimately contending for a title is 2016.

3-Green
4- Blake Griffin
5-Healthy Oden

PG - Rondo
SG - OJ Mayo - agree with you on this one, the guy's a stud and its not a huge stretch to get him
SF - Jeff Green/Paul Pierce - if Paul's still got it, then he should be in the lineup. Playing less minutes though so Jeff would still have a big role off the bench
PF - Someone - Not sure, assuming KG's gone by now. Maybe some new guy from the draft. Who knows
C - Dwight Howard - If that doesn't work, I like the idea of a healthy Greg Oden as well.

Bench - Delonte West, Avery Bradley, Ray Allen (maybe?), Jeff Green, and some backup big

PG:Rondo(have to take him over cp3 cuz i mean rondo is a celtic he;s what a celtic should be (see game 3 & 4)

SG:OJ Mayo with some groming he can be very very good

SF:Jeff Green (i think paul will retire with kg & ray & take a buy out which means more money for DA to work with)

pf:any one really i'll take anthony toliver or anhtony randolph lol

c DWIGHT

Honerable mention greg oden if not dwight we can easliy snatch him up next year for low risk high reward something danny has to look at this offseason

I'll go with the most realistic one. I won't bet on D12 or CP3 since both are sweepstakes jackpot so it has minimum possibility.

PG - Rajon Rondo
SG - Delonte West
SF - Jeff Green
PF - 2012 LAC pick
C  - Al Jefferson

Bench:
Kevin Garnett
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Avery Bradley
Greg Oden
Tony Allen
Peja Stojakovic
Jermaine O'neal

Best thing to do is keep this grup --- Coach+ KG, PP, RA+ Rondo. Plus: We need good shooters on the bench as backup for PP and RA. I will suggest Billups ( back up for Rondo), Igoudala, Barbosa, Hamilton or Prince

Ray and KG and Paul will be pushing their 20th season, really want them all of them as ur starters? Not to mention Barbosa Hamilton and Prince and Billups wont be effective in the NBA in 3 years.

I mean... Barbosa Hamilton and Prince and Billups are great players for the bench..so if you have Billups when Rondo is out, means a great player to be added
