AI's contract has 3 years and $56m remaining.  For that amount of committment I would rather spend it on a bigger impact player.  I think AI is a talented player, but not good enough to be THE guy.

Probably true. That commitment would take away from making a run at a 2012 free agent too.

I don't think Phily has any interest in Jeff Green with Thaddeus Young already there.

It sounds like the Sixers are going to shop Iggy again this summer but I don't think Boston has what they are looking for, trade asset wise.

A non-starter. Unfortunately.

I am not sure.  I could see them be interested in Ray Allen.  He may be long in the tooth, but he still probably has a few years left, and he is exactly what they have been missing, and comes off the books after next season.

Obviously, it depends on the other offers they are getting, but I think it could be something they would consider.

Don't think they want to trade Igoudala with in the division and I think they are looking for size. I think Iggy for Kaman (who is an expiring) makes too much sense for both the Clippers and the Sixers.

Iggy is one of the few guys that I think would really excel with Rondo, another being Gerald Wallace, but I wonder how much success we would have with such a poor shooting lineup.  We struggle even with 2 of the best shooters in the league next to Rondo.

The guy I really think would be the best to pair with Rondo (other than Dwight) is Josh Smith.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think Smith is one of the more intriguing guys as well.  The way he has played in the playoffs might keep the Hawks from doing it, but I think a deal based around KG for Smith would have to be intriguing to both sides.  Atlanta gets more of a true big man to pair with Horford, and a real veteran to help lead them to that next level.  And the C's get a young running-mate for Rondo.

I'm not an Iguodala believer, especially at his price tag. So long as the Celtics roll with Rondo, they need to pair him up with wings that can shoot.

I'd much rather have a James Jones type for the MLE over Iguodala at $15 million per year, killing the cap, while playing the same position as Pierce.

I wonder if Rondo and Josh Smith got along at Oakhill Academy?

I'm pretty sure Rondo would have to be involved in an Iggy deal.

Iggy + 2012 unprotected pick
for
Rondo and whatever makes the salaries work

I truly believe that Danny will end up with Jimmer Fredette, there's now way Danny doesn't love this kid.

I think if Rondo is included in an Iggy deal, then you have to make a followup deal after that - maybe dealing Ray for a point guard and center combo

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Iguodala is like the small forward version of Rondo. Great athlete, great defender, great rebounder, great playmaker, great hustle guy, but inefficient scorer. Right now I think what we need is a top flight scorer not another facilitator. Plus he's a bit expensive and he's on for a couple years too long.

I would rather trade with Memphis for Rudy Gay if Rondo ends up getting traded for anybody...

If Rudy Gay were available he'd definitely be the guy to go after, but I'd rather pair him with Rondo.
