After game 7 last year, game 4 and 5 (including the fantastic 16-0 run to end the game) against Miami, and countless 4th quarter collapses in the last 2 years, I just don´t have any confidence in this group anymore.

They´re old. Too old.

And it´s not getting any easier next season with teams like the Heat, Bulls and maybe the Knicks.

But was it really age, or the fact that Rondo was playing on one arm?

Are you really going to tell me that you think we'd have lost the past two games with a healthy Rondo?

That has nothing to do with age.  And if he was healthy and we were up 3-2, no one would be saying anything about age.

16-0 had nothing to do with Rondo´s injury.

The Heat are the better team. We can sit here and analyze the series all summer (which we´ll probably do anyways), but the truth is that no matter how good we played, the Heat kept it close in every game, and except for game 3, pulled away at the end. That´s the sign of a better team imposing it´s will on the lesser team, in my opinion.

We went 4-1 in this series, and the first two losses came with a healthy Rondo. It wasn´t even close.

In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

In relation to blowing it up .....I've decided this is how I feel.

I'M NOT READY TO DIE!!!!!!!!! I WAAAANNNNAAAA LIIIIIVVVVEEEEE!!!!!!

Danny Danny!  I'm sorry about all those things I said about you and all those other horrible things I'm still going to say later.  I'm sooorrryyyyyy!  Please forgive me!

KG!  I'm sorry I keep saying you settle for jumpers and are afraid to go to the rack because you are and I'm sorry I'm going to keep saying that, but ppppllllleeeeaaaassseee don't leave!

You guys are like the college girlfriend I had for way too long that I knew was bad for me and shoulda broke up with, but there is NOOOOOO way I can go back to not being a playoff team with high hopes.

(Enter police officer stage left.   Protagonist grabs gun, points at crowd)

I ain't goin back to that man. I ain't goin back!

This needs to happen, tell KG it's been a great ride but it's time to let it end. If he wants to win another ring it won't be here, have him go to a team like Miami, Clippers, anywhere but the Lakers!

We need a good big man I propose a deal of where we maximize the value of Rondo in which we give up
Rondo, 21 22 and S&T Bass for Tyreke Evans and the #5 which would be used on Drummond. I'm confident that Doc could straighten out Evans and make him an all star...if Rondo could learn an okay jump shot then imagine what they could do for him. Seriously though I would rather have Paul DWill Westbrook definitely over Rondo and after the playoffs I'm not sure he's THAT much better than Chalmers on offense. He's not overpaid but he's not someone you build your team around.

The next thing you do is try to extract Big Al from Utah for Pierce and future considerations

PG-Evans
SG-Bradley
SF-Green
PF-Big Al
C- Drummond

Let the kids play!!! We're not going to win next year no matter what so might as well get a jump on building towards the next dynasty!!!!

If you're delusional and believe that the Celtics reloaded can beat the Miami Heat as presently constructed...I dunno what to tell you.

They need to get younger and faster and not only that but from the looks of the finals Chalmers is closing the gap on Rondo quickly, which is one of the big reasons we need to gamble and trade Rondo at his peak because his value will never be higher. If you can use Rondo to get an elite prospect like MKG or Drummond MAKE THE DEAL!!!!

Sacremento would be a good place for Rondo, him and Cousins would be a lethal combo. Please blow it up I would love to see MKG or Drummond on the court at the Garden for the next decade.

To clarify I'm not saying Chalmers is better than Rondo at all...Im saying he's improving to the point where the Big 3 in Miami are virtually unbeatable when healthy.

Getting an elite prospect and Tyreke Evans who has super star potential would be an amazing haul

I have a hard time seeing that lineup winning a title much less a dynasty. There is no reason to blow it up if KG wants one more ride. You see who's available in 2013 then fill out the future roster.

Well either one of Drummond playing Center or Big Al as Center if the Celtics draft MKG would work. The team would struggle initially and be in the lottery next year but it would give us youth and a lot of top level young talent. The Thunder did the same thing an look where they are...6-7 year window

The "realists" have had the Celtics out of the running for the last 4 years now.  Yet, it's the "delusional homers" who say that this team as constituted always has a chance to be among the top contenders who have been proven to live in reality.

I'm not joining the "realists" now.  They always end up being wrong.  I'll stick with the "delusion" that this is a good team.

They put on a good show the second half of the season , even missing 4-5 of impact players to injury, frankly amazing feat.  Either way , it will be fun either....watching KG work a little magic a final time or seeing a bunch of new Rookies/ cheapy throw-a-way FA's stink up the court .   If the Celtics are playing I'll be there.

That team might contend for a playoff spot, but that's about the extent of it.

The point really isn't whether this team can contend or not next year.  People can agree to disagree with that.

The point is that there really aren't any good rebuilding options this year.

So we might as well bring back the core on short deals, preserve future cap space, and see what unfolds over the next year or two between our cap flexibility and what youth we develop.

Having Three Hall of Famers around to teach the youngsters and maintain a culture of winning can only help.

So you want to trade a young superstar for a broken star and someone who could possibly be a superstar like Rondo? That makes sense...

I'm tired of people wanting to trade Rondo...he's clutch, young, and cost controlled...what else does he need to do??

I agree.  We'll most likely do exactly that... just bring everyone back and wait a couple years until Pierce falls off the books.  We can get more talent if we just re-sign everyone using bird rights.

That said, there are certain trade scenarios that I'd have to consider... that goes for Pierce and Rondo.  If there is a way to upgrade the roster, I'd do it.  I think there are only a few players in this league who should be truly untouchable... LeBron and Durant are two of them.  None of them play for Boston.

Agreed, I don't know if Tyreke Evans could succeed in Boston...maybe. Gillcrest might be the next big thing but I'd still keep Rondo and hopefully Danny does too
