Why not Avery Bradley

I know that Doc doesn't really like rookies, but Avery Bradley has been in the C's system all year and he's a quick, dynamic, pass first point guard. His upside is way higher than someone like Arroyo. Why not give him a chance in Game 4 and beyond if Rondo and West can't play - or can't play effectively?

Because Bradley has crumbled on the pressure of regular season games.  Arroyo has playoff experience, and unlike Bradley, is actually a point guard.

Regardless, there's zero chance it happens.  Even if West, Rondo, and Arroyo all got hurt, Doc would sooner have Pierce, Allen, and Wafer bring the ball up the court than let Bradley.

I like Avery, but he isn't good enough to play in playoffs, at least Arroyo has a lot of experience

I mean, I'll happily concede all of you are probably correct. It just seems like, in the risk/reward equation, Bradley does have upside. And perhaps he has struggled this season because he never really got consistent minutes. With a vote of confidence, perhaps he would play much better.

I guess the way I think about it is that, while Arroyo has experience, I think the C's have no chance to win with him. He's just not that good. Bradley has some upside, though while maybe it makes them more likely to lose *badly*, it might also make them more likely to win.

Without Rondo, it's last gasp time for the Celtics anyways. Why not try to get creative?

But isn't playing Arroyo over Bradley a bit like how coaches in all sports are super conservative and would rather lose close games then take a stab at actually winning.

I realize I'm grasping at straws here - I'm just depressed by the idea of the Rondo-less Celtics.

Don't worry, Rondo will play tomorrow, and DWest is as great a backup as any team can hope for.

I think you'd have a better case for playing Bradley over Von Wafer if Ray Allen or Delonte West went down and you needed to fill some SG minutes.

Doc is not being fair to the other deserving bench players. Avery should be playing if only to just play defense on Chalmers(who Danny refused to draft) as practice for Derrick Rose. Why would Doc think that way?

As much as we all want him to be, Avery is not a PG. He just has no ball-handling skills, and doesn't quite have the intuitive court vision a PG needs.

Here's hoping he has another growth spurt in him and he can shoot up another 2 inches or so. Then he can slide on over to SG where he belongs.
