I had the exact same thing happen to my right elbow when I was 14 only it popped back in on it's own and I had bad tendon tear. Even today over a decade later I still get lingering affects from it with tendonitis etc.

Does having more muscular arms reduce the chance of tendon/ligament damage from hyper-extension?

My educated guess here is that having more muscular arms stabilizes the joint more (making a dislocation less likely) but actually increases the chances of tearing once a dislocation occurs.  I vaguely remember something like this when I dislocated my shoulder.

The important thing to remember is that there are all different degrees of dislocations.  Rondo's elbow was only out for a short period of time, and seemed to pop back into place easily.  There's almost certainly some degree of tearing and bruising, but hopefully it's pretty minor.  Even still, though, it's going to be painful for him.

It can be a pretty major injury, with recovery times ranging (in the places I've looked online) from anywhere between 6 weeks to 6 months.  If Rondo is playing, I'd expect a lot of one-handed passes and shots, and not a lot of jumpers.

Dang, because we all know jumpers are Rondo's bread and butter.

My biggest concern for the short term(Monday) is swelling. I know I kept my arm virtually perma-iced and I still had major joint swelling for close to a week

I just hope he doesn't become a liability on the defensive end. In other words I hope Bibby plays A LOT.

That's still a problem though. Rondo's mid-range shot isn't completely dreadful anymore. Without even the slightest threat of a jumper though, that could create some really bad spacing problems

TO dislocate means something had to give , at min their is ligament tears .  May or may not need surgery depending on what , where and how much.

D. Wade .......Mission accomplished .  Take out Rondo

The thing that gets me when thinking about him playing is that he falls a lot and goes up hard for boards. He can and probably will have to use that arm/hand to stabilize/balance himself or he is just going to land on his side. Either that or he will have to not go all out which will hinder the team. Its going to be tough to watch, hoping for him to not take another shot to the injured area

Im glad to see some of the Wade hate. He has gotten a bit of a pass here because folks hate Bron so much. Wade's at least as big a jerk as Bron he's just a smoother guy

It's not so much that Wade did that I mind, it's that if Rondo had done it to him, he'd probably be suspended next game.  But Wade does it to Rondo and it's a regular foul.

That's the problem.

I thought Rondo played better one-handed last night than he did with two hands, so if he can only play with an arm, I say through him out there regardless.

Blakely says on his twitter that Rondo's MRI is negative, he's a gametime decision for tomorrow

After watching the replays some more I get the feeling that the reason why their was no tearing has a lot to do with how horizontal his arm was. I know when I tore tendons in my elbow my hyper-extension was much more vertical from the ground.
