At this point, the odds of seeing the Lakers and the Celtics square off in the Finals again this year seem pretty bad.

Which potential Finals combination other than Lakers vs. Celtics would you most like to see?  Why?

Although "Celtics vs. Anybody other than the Lakers" is a valid answer, it's not a particularly interesting (or, at this point, very likely) one.

Personally, I think I'd most like to see the Mavericks square off with the Bulls.  That's a series with both star power and team defense.  I think it would be fun to watch.  I can already hear Cuban complaining about all the free throws Rose is getting.

On the other hand, I think a Thunder vs. Heat Finals could be incredibly exciting to watch, especially since those are probably going to be the best two teams in the league for the next 5-8 years.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
memphis vs Heat and watch Memphis crush them inside with zeebo and gasol.

Or OKC vs the Bulls.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I would like to see Memphis and Atlanta make it. That would be Stern's worst nightmare. But we could root for Tony Allen and GM Chris Wallace to earn rings. How can you not root for a GM browbeaten into trading for Vin Baker to save Paul Ga$ton money.

Long Live Elvis!!!

I also am becoming fond of Dallas and would like to see them exact revenge on the Heat.

This is becoming a screwed up playoff for both the Celtic and Faker fans but it some ways it is good to give other teams a shot at glory.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Thats a good point. Almost seems like Memphis was constructed to beat Miami - elite wing defense, strong interior presences. No way the Heat could take them in a best of 7 series.

Miami vs Dallas

With the Mavericks winning the series behind a combination of superior interior play from Tyson Chandler and Brendan Haywood + the use of zone defenses to stifle Miami's dribble penetration + the jump shooting of their small guards. And of course, Mr. Dirk Nowitzki.

Oh, I just realized that is a rematch of the 2006 Finals. A little extra revenge for Dallas ... even better.

Well in order for the series to be epic, and assuming the Celtics aren't going to make it (I hope I'm wrong) I'm gonna want to see the Heat get trounced by somebody...

So will it be Heat v. Thunder, Mavs, or Grizzlies? I'm gonna go with Mavs.

How sweet it would be to watch Dirk snatch a ring from D-wade in revenge for the phantom fouls and other shenanigans that went down in their last finals matchup.

Heat - Thunder with Perk winning his second NBA championship. However, I think Heat are going all the way.

Yeah, there would be some great storylines around that one.  Pretty sure nobody expected to see a rematch of the '06 Finals.

If we lose, I would love to see Dallas get revenge on the Heat and Dirk and Kidd to get their title finally.

If the C's cant make the Finals I'd really like to see Mavs-Heat. I think that could be a potentially epic series where Dallas is fueled by their past playoff failures to win it in 6. Although I can hope for Thunder-Celtics cant I?  ;D

Celtics vs. anybody other than the Lakers.

Very likely and very interesting.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

No disrespect to Pos, but I'll wait to answer in this thread for another week or so.
