If, They had Larry Legend in his Prime, all the time, your az is mine.

Don't know where that came from, but you get the point.

Could Hibbert, and Psycho T, Larry Legend, Collison, George and Grainger take down the likes of the Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, or the Heat for that matter.

Is the Legend that good? I like the Pacers team they almost have all the role players in place, save for a big, long and strong Power Foward.

 You could play

 Hibbert
 Bird
 Grainger
 P george
 N Collison

With  Psycho T,Dunleavy, J Foster, TJ Ford, McRoberts, Brandon Rush for a Bench, Nice Team, short of one more athletic big.

The Pacers would definitely be a strong contender in many eyes with larry on that team. Kinda like the cavs last year with Lebron a one man wrecking crew. But the Pacers do have Granger and Psycho T as well so yes

The Pacers have really impressed me this post-season.  They're much tougher than I thought they were gonna be.  Even with Bird in his prime however, I don't think they would go all the way with the rest of the talent around him.  Just my guess.  ;)

Yes, without a doubt in my mind. Prime Larry is as good as Prime Jordan.

I like the " without a doubt in my mind" line.

The Celts this year would take them to seven games IMCO.

 But wow what a series.

Psycho T is Tyler Hansbrough?  :o

such a big nickname for him... Luke got the best of him at college, and I don't get all the hype around the kid.

On topic, this Pacers team with Larry Bird in his prime would be a top 2 team in the East, but I see the Celtics beating them if they don't learn to play team ball.

Great idea for a thread, TP

Larry Bird would definitely make them a 60 win caliber team and a real title contender. Not sure he is enough to get them to the top of the pile though ... I don't rate the rest of Indy's roster very highly.

I'd be more optimistic if Indy had more defensive talent on their team.

Collison
Bird
Granger
Physco T
Hibbert

Well, you have arguably the best basketball player of all time. Arguably the best college basketball player of all time. A great young PG who has clashed with the "best" PG in the league Derrick Rose. A 7'0 Center capable of scoring in the low post and playing great defense. Granger, one of the best scorers in the league, but he would need to up his defense.

I think larry would make them all better and theyd be the best team in the league, because the way theyve been playing the bulls and there bench, theyd be great.

Just some expierience needed, and team defense.

Larry would absolutely annihilate in today's nba let's be real. He would make that Pacers team a true contender for sure he was one of the 4 best players ever if you ask me.

Not only would the pacers beat us but they might outright dominate us if they had the great Bird. Bird was an absolute monster

Larry Bird is my all-time favorite ball player, but I'm pretty sure Jordan's prime was greater than that of Larry's. I'm loath to admit it, but I don't think they stack up.

The interesting thing about this post, and many of it's replies, is that it seems many think the answer is yes or at least close to the itle. I am not saying I disagree but what does that say about the lever of competition between now and back then? I mean, Bird in his prime also had a McHale in his prime as well as Walton ( he was great that year too) Parrish and DJ. That team beat the Lackers but the Lackers also beat them too.

Anyway, I would also take an 'in his prime' Larry over MJ. He made his team better then Jordan made his team. People so often overlook how good Pippen was. He was one of the best and most versatile defenders the league has seen.

Put 1984-88 Larry Bird in any lottery team and that team can win it all. If Len Bias lived Bird would have 6 rings, have longer career and be considered GOAT.
