Well, at the very least this probably squashes the rumor that Shaq's season is over, unless of course the C's cave to the Knicks and lose. 

I'd love him back for Game 4, but I'd settle for even the second round.

Shaq looks good on TV   ,  possibly helps the ratings....I rather see Shaq sitting on the bench than watching a few annoying people the camera pans to during a game......I'm a bit tired of that nurdy Spike Lee or what ever his name really is. Well NYC is a nice place. Good places to shop and eat. He gets to take in an NBA game. See some old pals.  I'd go too if I were him.

unfortunately you basically can only judge if shaq is good to go by the way he is walking/moving.
I'm assuming he won't play against the Knicks because it is probably bringing him back too early. Maybe 5-10 minutes if we are up 3-0 on Sunday.

Doc and Danny are going to say he'll play again 'soon- as early as so and so..' because it keeps every team they potentially play guessing.

It puts the seed in the back of their mind that even if they get past the 76ers or the Pacers in round 1- they'll have to deal with a Celtics squad that's like it was at the start of the season.
Particularly softer, mentally weak guys like Bosh or even Boozer/Noah thinking about a potential match up with Shaq on those long bus rides and plane trips to and from each game will mess with your head. Changes the dynamic of a series completely.

I want him to travel with team, so he can be part of the "practices" etc, but he shouldn't play in this 1st round.

Honestly we don't need them. We will win this series by playing solid D and making open shots.
NY doesn't play defense, so if we follow the half of what's left in Doc's playbook, we should win in 4
