I am going to save this thread for the next time the fans think we were jobbed by the refs.

The first page at least is high comedy.

Who were the refs favoring when the Knicks built a 12 point lead?

Overall the game was poorly called. They'd let them play then call a ticky tack foul. The Carmelo call or the Delonte West moving screen call come to mind. Having said that, I'll take this type off officiating over what the Sixers and Blazers got.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I'd say no one. I think it was called about even until the last 2 minutes. Otherwise we might not have been able to come back from those 12 points.  The whole issue, is what happened in the last 2 minutes, when the game was neck and neck.

You cant really say the refs "gave us that game" when a player blatantly commits an offensive foul. Sure they were letting them play all night and thats a ballsy call to make, but Melo elbowed Pierce to get him off him. It doesnt matter if there is 40 seconds in the game or its 5 minutes into the first quarter... That's a foul, plain and simple.

I don't care, the Knicks gave that game away. Besides, it isn't as though the refs made Ray's shot fall.

Garnett had same exact offensive foul called on him that Melo did.

I'm honestly really tired of hearing about that offensive foul on Melo, because Knicks fans and analysis sure as hell weren't complaining or whining when the same exact calls were going against the Celtics. Nothing was given to us, the Knicks had a ton of things going their way. The Celtics outplayed the Knicks when it mattered the most.

   03:32    Garnett Foul : Offensive (1 PF)

That offensive foul in the second quarter on garnett was exactly the same as what Melo was called for in the 4th quarter. If we are going to get such things called on us, Melo doing it in even more blatant fashion, should have it called on him as well.

That call on Garnett also directly led to a score for the Knicks on the other end, padding their advantage.

Don't even get me started on that bad illegal screen call made on Delonte, which took the ball from the Celtics, when Ray was wide open for a 3 pointer. Delonte didn't even get to set a screen at all, he had already ran past Delonte. Then there were a number of close range shot attempts where the celtics were clearly hit, and should have gone to stripe for two.

If you don't believe me that the call was exactly the same, go back and watch it. I know some of you guys have DVR. It was the same exact thing Melo was called for, so it's consistent. Melo's was far more blatant, however. And both Turiaf and Pierce did an acting job to sell it.

Is Turiaf the only player allowed to sell a bit of contact? I think not. It's apart of the game, and the Celtics won. It's insulting when I see people claiming the game was handed to the Celtics. Not a [dang] thing was handed to them, they earned that win.

Jdpapa3...I think the call was actually "moving screen". I know the analysts kept discussing it as a "screen out of bounds", but I think the actual call made on delonte was for a moving screen...which it certainly was.

I was right in front of the ref who made that call. He said "screen out of bounds."

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I don't think we can complain much about the reffing after being gifted a foul on the Carmelo/Pierce offensive foul and the non call on Garnett's blatant moving screen.
Think about how lucky we were (even after grinding our way back into the game and being so tough)...
1) Pierce gets the garbage call
2) Garnett doesn't get the offensive foul
3) Ray hits that shot.

Very lucky sequence of events but I guess it's all about putting yourself in the position to have a mini miracle series of events like that...

It's like the refs were watching Ray to see if he'd hit it!
Tough biscuits for the Knicks though...
Watch the KG screen...

This is what home court advantage is for. To get the benefit on close calls and our fans behind us. There were other bad calls on both ends through out the game that had just as much bearing on the final score as the last couple plays. I hope you weren't one of the guys crying when we didn't lock up the #1 or #2 spot--this outcome is what we were fighting for.
