I don't think we can complain much about the reffing after being gifted a foul on the Carmelo/Pierce offensive foul and the non call on Garnett's blatant moving screen.
Think about how lucky we were (even after grinding our way back into the game and being so tough)...
1) Pierce gets the garbage call
2) Garnett doesn't get the offensive foul
3) Ray hits that shot.

Very lucky sequence of events but I guess it's all about putting yourself in the position to have a mini miracle series of events like that...

It's like the refs were watching Ray to see if he'd hit it!
Tough biscuits for the Knicks though...

no sympathy whatsoever as I've seen the refs rob us more than a few times. Its just balancing it all out if we get a little help every once in a while. Besides New York still got their chance to win the game and Melo blew it

Yea its only right that the scales get tipped in our favor for once. Still cant get the taste of that game 7 free throw disparity out of my mouth.

We've had our share of questionable calls in the past. We can argue all we want about how the refs are deciding the outcome of the games but at the end of the day we have no choice but to accept it and move on. Referees calls, good or bad, are part of the game. It was a great comeback and an even greater shot by Ray and that's all that matters to me. This was a classic Celtic playoff victory, with or without the referees' "help".

On a side note, OKC won on Perk's tip in, although it was clearly offensive goal tending. I guess some Celtic luck is still rubbing off on Perk as well.

Through out the playoffs they are letting teams play.  The way it's supposed to be.  Flops are not being whistled.  Carmello basically elbows Pierce two feet in front of the Ref.  Paul didn't flop, he held his ground and he was rewarded.  I still think it should have been a no-call in the play-offs, but the ref was technically correct in making that call.
KG's screen was perfectly legal.  He has a wide stance so he can keep his balance when he sets a strong pick.  Douglas' teammates failed him by not communicating with him, and he clearly trips on KG's legs because he was watching the ball.
Ray's shot was luck?  Please don't disrespect him by making such a statement.  He's spent more effort on perfecting his shot than probably anyone in the history of the game.  His sweet stroke and his clutch shot-making is a result of all that hard work.
It's true New York had some tough calls, but there were certainly a number of questionable calls for the Celtics as well.  One of the Turiaf's block on Rondo was a clear foul.  A perfect charge taken by JO was deemed a foul giving JO his second foul early on.  Over all well officiated game.  A'mare had an awesome game, but he did get away with at least one charge and a travel.

You don't have to have sympathy and of course we've been screwed before but if that happened to us Celtic nation would be throwing a witch hunt out on those refs.
Garnett must have been shocked that there was a no call on that last screen.

I'm not trying to take anything away from our guys I just hope people remember how lucky we were tonight to steal this victory.
Fact is we couldn't have done it without the refs tonight and I hope people remember that.

Good news is Ray Allen is back and Rondo almost had a triple double. JO has exceeded expectations too.

Good post, but we weren't "gifted" that foul ... Carmelo was shoving Pierce around all night, and that one was a blatant elbow throw and right in front of the ref.

There was a ton of calls, (for both teams), that were  not whistled tonight, and I personally like that they "let them play", (I hope that trend continues), but that particular foul was just too obvious and too hard to let go ... absolutely the right call.

As far as the Garnett no-call, again, there were plenty of those not called at the other end of the floor, and I think the officials did a good job, (for the most part), of not getting whistle-happy, and letting a physical game be played.

Even Chuck (Barkley) said it was a right call on Melo. The refs didn't help us win this unless they put the ball in the hoop! Had we played the same in the first half (those two glaring passes from RR that were ill-advised)we would not have been in that situation from the start.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Yea im sorry i just disagree completely with the sentiment of this post. When other teams get unfair calls, and we lose the game, i'll blame the refs but i'll also blame moments where we blew our chances or the other team executed better. Give appropriate credit to both. But it just seems like your giving more credit to the calls than ray's clutch shooting, doc's awesome out of bounds plays, JO's big bucket, and Pierce's lockdown D on Melo. All those things far outweigh a couple iffy calls so I dont agree at all.

this is great in theory, but in this game, if not for the officiating...we would be down 1-0 instead of up 1-0.

I am not taking credit away from the teams effort- it was amazing and we deserved the chance to win the game with Ray Allen. I can just imagine if this 1 minute was reversed in our situation we would be LIVID just like NYC fans would be right now.

The Paul Pierce foul was a doozey and was pathetic in my opinion considering he is a renowned flop artist- I guess that's the advantage I have of instant replay compared to the refs gut decision on the court.

lol @ 'this is great in theory'. I'ma turn that right around and say the same about what your saying. You're take on it is great in theory but the fact is clutch bucket after clutch bucket and defensive execution won us the game more than the refs did. We just have to agree to disagree cus we're just talkin in circles

Two plays in our favor don't make a game win or loss. Pierce was definitely pressured by Caramel and the only Celt to get moving pick calls was Perk.

We may have caught a break on the Melo offensive foul. Other than that we didn't catch any luck from the refs, I would even argue that we were the only home team that didn't benefit a LOT from the officiating. Check out the Lakers, Bulls and Spurs games, the FT differential is quite amazing for the home team.

I'm not complaining about the refs, I don't think they had a major impact on the game.  There were noncalls that went both ways.  However, I would complain if they hadn't called that Carmelo foul on Pierce.  It wasn't much but it put Pierce off balance and clearly gave Carmelo an undeserved advantage at a critical point in the game.

And I'll agree with other commenters that Ray hitting that shot is more than luck.  Luck is when I hit that shot.   ::)
