Blah ; if I would have posted this exact quote right after a loss everybody would be agreeing lol

No, I don't think so. I mean look back at all of Ray's big 3 pointers...a lot of them have come from Pierce, no?

I think this is making something out of nothing.

Much ado about nothing

Ray and Rondo are pretty close. I remember Ray hitting a great shot in a game this season and Rondo went up to him and said 'nice shot' in the huddle. I remember that because I must have played that back over and over again. I think Rondo has tremendous respect for Ray.

As much as folks dump on Rondo, not much is said about the pressure it must take for him to play with four future hall of famers. Who do you pass the ball to?

it has to be this way and if rondo could hit free throws the passes would be from rondo.

Just a derivative of circumstance. PP has the ball in his hands on final possessions the most because rondo never handles the ball on the final play of a one possession game.

And PP is willing to hit the open man as well - dont think it is a shot at rondo though

Unless he said that answering a question that was specifically about Rondo, I don't know how anyone can see evidence of a "rift" between the two.

In all likelihood, he was answering a question about taking a shot off what seemed like a Pierce iso.

I took this as more pro-Pierce than anti-Rondo.

Ray was getting all the attention for hitting the game-winner, and I think he wanted to give some credit to another Hall of Famer for his role in the game-winners.

am I really reading people attempting to fault Rajon Rondos passing ability?

Ray's quote is directed at Paul's unselfishness particularly when the opposing team thought he would be the one taking the shot.

People attempt to fault Rondo for anything in their sleep around here, don't you know?  :D

Complete misinterpretation, IMHO ... I don't see this as any kind of friction whatsoever, but more of a compliment and a nod to Pierce's passing/assist ability. For Ray to intimate that Rondo is not as good a passer or say anything that would indicate friction at this point in the season, is not remotely his style or personality. Sorry, but this is way off, and has nothing to do with anything negative between the players. Perfect example of how just about anything, including a compliment, can be twisted into negativity. We don't need it ... not now especially.

Ray's quote is directed at Paul's unselfishness particularly when the opposing team thought he would be the one taking the shot.

And I can remember at least a couple of instances when Paul passed to someone to hit the game-winning shot :
KG vs NY Knicks in last season's regular season game at MSG, and (who could forget) Big Baby's jumper to beat the Magic in game 4 of the 2009 East Semis!

"If I can think about every shot that I've hit to win a game in a Celtics uniform, Paul's probably the guy that's passed it to me."

That's a very interesting choice of words.  I'm becoming more certain that there is a friction between Rondo and Ray.

He must be forgetting about the shot where he passed up Reggie Miller right? Wasn't it Rondo continuing to set him up in the 1st quarter to break it?
Can't stop, Rondo!

82games hasn't updated the data in a while, but Pierce was easily the leader in assists on game-winning shots from 03-04 to partway through 08-09.  Kobe's still at under the league average, but he apparently finally got an assist in that situation.

The #1 option at the end is usually Pierce if that plan falls through he looks for #2 which is generally Ray.

It's just Ray giving Pierce credit for making the right choice when it counts.  Pierce has made many game winners, and he's passed to Ray for many game winners.

the general play is paul & ray having the ball and setting picks for each other, more open man shoots the ball
