Only way the Lakers don't three peat, IMO, is if the Heat make the Finals.

We can't beat them if we meet again?

I really don't think so, not without HCA.  Unless Shaq comes back and plays like it's 2006 again.

Shaq just needs to be healthy...not get younger. HCA may prove crucial only if we find ourselves in another game 7. We lost game 7 last year because of our rebounding woes...HCA wasn't the deciding factor.

Anyway, we have to finish off the Heat first...not going to be an easy task...and LA has OKC to contend with.

I'd settle for Nov/Dec 2010 Shaq.

Both the Grizz and the Thunder can beat LA.

I have mixed emotions right now. On one side I'm happy that the Grizzlies won and did something that was unthinkable and many doubted, but man the Spurs loss just hurt me in a heartbreaking way. That loss seem to just seal for me the end of an era, the Tim Duncan era. With the end of the Tim Duncan era it just seem to make me realize even more that this run can be the last for the big 3 along with Kobe and the Lakers and many more. I grew up in this era with
Tim leading the Spurs to championships and being one of the top players,
Shaq being dominant and winning championships along with feuding with Kobe,
Paul being that guy from my hometown that I supported throughout all the problems,
KG being phenomenal on the Timberwolves and being their franchise player,
Ray Allen being a deadly shooter,
Allen Iverson and his 2001 run in Philli,
Jason Kidd just being the jason Kidd in his prime with the triple doubles and the amazing passes
Tracy McGrady being one of the top scorers and having a huge what if due to injuries ,
Vince Carter dunks at All Star Games
Kobe being Kobe and growing a little and losing a little of his arrogance of winning on his own
The Indiana team with JO and Ron being a title contender
The Kings being title condenters with Webber
Tue Pistons whooping the Lakers
The Lakers crying when the Spurs gave David his last hurrah for a title
The new Jersey Nets going to the playoffs and finals
And many more.
This loss just brought back memories for some reason and it makes me sad a bit, but I congratulate Memphis and I hope they can keep proving the odds and do what they can to win and if not, they suceeded in being in the second round for the first time inthei franchise history.

You'd have to say Spurs. Magic were underwhelming all season long. I thought the spurs had a realistically chance given they were (relatively) health.

Definitely the Spurs, I had them to go to the WCF and challenge the Lakers...

The Spurs definitely ... they weren't just beaten, the were dominated by a team that many thought unworthy to even make the Playoffs this year. I said this all year long, but Memphis is a highly under-rated team, and I hope this isn't seen as some kind of fluke, but as what it really was, the Grizzlies are just simply a better team, and the Spurs have been waning in strength as Timmy's career is winding down. Hate to say it, but they need to start planning for the future, and I hope this is their wake-up call.

Good article from Hollinger -- Link -- I liked his summary of today's game

Quote
The big surprise on this evening, however, was how badly the Grizzlies dominated Oklahoma City on the offensive end of the floor. Memphis got here as a defensive team, leading the league in forced turnovers and bullying the top-ranked Spurs' offense into submission in the first round of the playoffs.

But their ironclad defense was just OK today. Instead, it was Zach Randolph's low-post dominance (34 points and 10 rebounds), Marc Gasol's precision finishing (9-of-11 for 20 points) and Mike Conley's ball protection (no turnovers, only eight for the team) that ruled the day. Memphis scored at least 27 points in every quarter and rolled up 114 points on just 94 trips, a stellar 120.2 offensive efficiency mark.

Maybe the San Antonio Spurs aren't too old, too slow or too unathletic.

Maybe the Memphis Grizzlies are just really, really good.

If you're not familiar with these Grizzlies, take another look at the second half of their season: Memphis went 27-11 in its final 38 games before tanking the last two. Throw in the seven playoff games and their record is 32-13 in more than half a season; that's a 58-win pace. Even after losing star forward Rudy Gay for the season, they barely lost a step.

No Kirk Hinrich. This is going to be a very difficult series for Atlanta.

I can't see Jeff Teague or Jamal Crawford (defensively) causing Derrick Rose much problems. The Hawks don't have much size on that interior defense if they revert back to their regular starting lineup. Lack of help at the rim. Atlanta is also a weak transition defense team despite their wonderful athletes. A lot of different areas for Derrick Rose to get high percentage shot attempts.

I'm thinking Chicago should sweep this series.
